Stephanie Nielsen (Nie) (Courtney's sister) and her husband, Mr. Nielsen, were seriously injured in a plane crash in August along with Mr. Nielsen's flight instructor, who passed away soon after. Their medical bills are into the millions as they undergo skin graft surgery and rehab. Mr. Neilsen is awake and recovering, while Nie is still in a chemically-induced coma, but she is showing signs of improvement and strength. You can read more about it here and here and here and here (my very favorite). The writing that Courtney has done on her blog in this time has been some of the most beautiful, moving, and sincere writing I have ever read.
Finding Court's blog has been such a blessing to me, and her family's strength has uplifted me in ways I cannot describe. I'm lucky to count Courtney as one of my friends, and I'm thankful to my Heavenly Father for her influence in my life when I really needed it. Even if I never see her face in person, Courtney will be counted among my very best friends and guardian angels in this life. Is that cheesy? You'd tell me if it was I am sure.
Thanks guys! I'm excited to make you some onesies!

In March or April this year my good friend Brit went to Utah for a baby shower and writers retreat. The baby shower was for a writer I had recently discovered, whose blog had been helping me through a very tough time in my life.
So I made some onesies for this write (her name is Courtney) and I sent them off with Brit. Apparently they were a hit, says Brit, who returned with the message from everyone there that I should sell them. And I went - Oh?

So. Here we are.
From now until Saturday, October 17th,
50% of my Onesie-Twosie proceeds will be going to
the Nie Recovery Fund.

what a cute idea, you are so sweet. i've been reading both those blogs for the past 2 months now. and you know what? i am completely jealous of stephanie! she is in a coma and has some major rehab in front of her and i'm jealous of her! she is so happy, seems to have so much patience with her kids, and her husband helps out SO much around the house! she has such a lovely life. and even though things are going to be so tough for her when she's out of her coma, i bet her life will still be lovely. not that i don't have a lovely life, but many things could be improved! i need to get pregnant again so i can buy some onesies, chase doesn't wear them anymore. i can barely get that kid dressed or even in a diaper!
ReplyDelete-miss you...the more i read your blog, the more and more i miss you!
I know, Stephanie has a seriously beautiful life, and I know she will continue to have a beautiful life. I always felt a bizarre mixture of jealousy and inspiration when I read her blog. Hopefully she'll be back to it soon!
ReplyDeleteI MISS YOU TOO!!! VERY MUCH!
I'm in LOVE with those onesies! And I'm going to buy some for the recovery fund. I've been thinking of ways to help. So how do I do that? And I LOVE Courtney and Stephanie. They have changed my life as well, AMAZING examples to me. You too girl, your just dang awesome. xoxox
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute! Good luck with your new Etsy shop!
ReplyDeleteAlready placed my order!
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing such a wonderful thing for Stephanie and Christian. Amazing!
What lovely onesies!! I'm especially fond of the Oy Vey one. Just totally fits how I feel sometimes as a mom :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. You express many sentiments that several of us feel.
Those are adorable & I loved reading your older blog posts too!
ReplyDeleteLOVE, love the Onesies. Ever thought about adding toddler t-shirts to the mix? My little one's are out of the onsie phase, but I would pay good money for some cool, graphic t's! Something to think about?? :)
ReplyDeleteStacey, I can do toddler sizes for sure, I use Garanimals blank white tees, just say you want a bigger size in the notes to the seller!
ReplyDeleteI like your censorship. Doesn't seem to fit the democratic views, though. Looks more like a republican.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, I'm just trying to keep things civil. This is about Stephanie, not politics.
ReplyDeleteHence, why I (and probably others) found the political sign offensive.
ReplyDeleteDo you give out tips? I am a self taught sewer. I won't use the term seamstress, at all. But I do tinker around with stuff. These are adorable and they look fairly easy and fun.
ReplyDeleteAre the edges raw? Does the material fray if the edges are raw, or do you fold the edges under? I'd like to make some for girlfriends who are having babies.
Thank you,
Katy
It is wonderful to "meet" you Nat! These are too sweet, I especially love the tie one and the guitar. Good luck with your shop and I agree with many..........Nie Nie and her family have changed my life for the better. They are an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
I went. Ordered 3! 2 for a friend in CA due any day now, and one for a friend who should get pregnant. I am insistent upon it. Do you take requests? I saw one on the Etsy site that had an adorable owl on it. Had to order that one but wished it were from you. I think this is great. Way to make something great out of something you love. Here you speak of Courtney being all inspirational, I would have to dish the same compliment to you. My hat's off.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you can make a state of the union onsie for Hawaii, I tried to order but it sold out as i was ordering!
ReplyDeleteI love the onsies and am excited to help Nie out as well
Yes! Etsy won't load for me right now so I can't restock, but once I do you will have a Hawaii onesie coming your way! What color, ma'am?
ReplyDeleteColor of the onsie or the state? If it is the state green would be great! 6-9 months short sleeved onsie, I also wanted to order the recycle one so should I order them both together?
ReplyDeleteOf the state, and you got it! Email me at natalielovin@gmail.com with all the specifics and I'll email you back with the address that you can mail the check to! Sound good?
ReplyDeleteThis goes for everyone else who would like to order something that is sold out! I will replenish stocks as soon as the danged Internet lets me! :)
Has anyone ever told you that you look like Jennifer Garner? Well, you do...lucky lady!!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. And, I'm not even buttering up for a discount! Forgot to tell you, cute shirts!
ReplyDeleteever jealous of those who can create and happy to dress my little man in your goods, especially if it's for a good cause. Love those Nielsen/Clarks

I wish I would have known about this contribution onesie phenomena like, uh four years ago!! Just recently found your blog when I started my blog! Yes...I'm way late entering the blogosphere. You're my kind of gal, and I love the Nie & her sister Courtney as well! Take care Nat!
