The weather forecast this morning said a high of sixty-five, followed by days and days of rain. We decided a hike was in order.
We stopped for some gas and a stick of Hubba Bubba and then we blew outta town. We looked at trees and stepped over roots and climbed up very steep hills and blew giant bubble gum bubbles, and we walked past a group of confused German tourists wearing bike shorts.
And now I will tell you about how we saw a baby bear.
Well, we saw a baby bear. He was right there on the gravel road on the way out of the trailhead parking lot. He was kind of big and cuddly looking, only you know he wasn't really, and he was literally feet from the trail, and suddenly our whole hiking experiment took on a rather dangerous and exciting tenor, because we could have almost died!
And then while Brandon held my hand so I wouldn't trip on any rocks we talked about possible names for the baby. I think we just about got it.
I am the first comment! I'm just gonna leave the random adoration comment... I adore this blog and just love hearing your random thoughts about fetus things, ,Holbsy things, naughty puppy things and the like. Oh and my husband does too since he asks what you said that made me crack up and then I read Nat posts to him and he is likewise entertained! Congrats again on the mini-boy, my first is 8 weeks and I read your blog aloud to her probaly since January when she was still the parasite! Ok random stalker comment over...
ReplyDeleteignore the horrible typos... it's late. I apologize.
ReplyDeleteWERE YOU GUYS ACTING LIKE TEENAGERS IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR? NAUGHTY NAUGHTY...
ReplyDeleteHahaha I knew something was up when you said no dogs allowed! Thats pretty epic about the bear!
ReplyDeleteBy the way I'm supposed to be getting ready to go to the hospital but instead I'm reading your blog see thats how interesting you are!
Very romantic! I need me a quiet hike. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou seriously cracked me up on this one. tsk tsk, you two.
ReplyDeleteI dunno, maybe it's because I only had 4 hours of sleep, but the Hitler thing tickled my funny bone. Uh oh. Not a good indicator for the day...
Hiking makes everything better. It really does.
ReplyDeleteAnd so does having a red-headed dream boat of a husband, so it seems. I need to get me one...
I love redheaded dream boats of husbands. I picked one up myself nearly 12 years ago. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nearly perfect day! And what it is with those German hikers? They are EVERYWHERE
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute!
ReplyDeleteBaby bears must be everywhere up there in Idaho. My little brother lives up there in an Idahoan ski town, I think there is only one. He sadly hit a baby bear with his car two weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteYou can make anything sound interesting & fun! I so enjoy this blog:)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all you are nowhere near being chubbier-than-usual-pregnant-girl. In fact, according to your last picture, I expected much more chub from 20 weeks.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, I think we are all lucky who have found a dreamboat of a man. :) What would we do without them?
awww how sweet.
ReplyDeleteYoure going to name him Huckleberry ain't you?
ReplyDeleteYes, I just said ain't.
Does anyone who reads this lovely blog watch the Bachelorette? If so, do you think that guy Kirk kind of looks like the Holbs?
ReplyDeletePlease tell me you stopped in Elk River for huckleberry ice cream!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! And where's the picture of the deceptively cute bear cub? One of these years I want to volunteer at the zoo during baby bear season just so I can hold one before it's old enough to kill me. : )
ReplyDeleteHmm, so now you've got me curious. The only name that I know Huck to be short for is Huckleberry, and I cannot picture a grown doctor or lawyer or anybody seriously named Huckleberry. So...I'm going to have to google some names and see if I can figure it out.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had a lovely time hiking and in the car. And I'm glad you didn't almost die! Although, that could have been a fun tale to blog about later.
I'm curious about the Huck thing too...hmmm
ReplyDeleteI want rain and cooler weather...it's too hot here and I want to move and the shiny new husband says in 5 years...but 5 years is soo long. Oh and anyway, I think I need a hike too.
