The Holbscooler finally picked up on my pathetic pregnant whines and bought me my very own air conditioner. And oh, it is love. Love, I tell you! His name is Friedrich, he is 12,000 BTUs, and I now have the emotional stamina to curl my hair in the bathroom and be nice to my husband. Thank you, Friedrich! And thank you Vlad for installing him!
Juilliard is just down the block from our apartment. Today must have been the first day of class for all the ballerinas, because the Upper West Side was positively crawling with leotards. I walked to the post office in a sea of fairy dancers. All that pink spandex made me very wistful for a pair of toe shoes. Once upon a time I was a ballerina (in my imagination). Oh sure, I stopped dancing when I was 11, and I do try to remind myself that I am eight months pregnant, but I can always still become a ballerina. Don't even tell me otherwise.
Sometimes while we wait for the elevator to come to our floor, we like to pose like models in the full-length mirror.
The end.
He bought you an AIR CONDITIONER!!!! HOORAY! But that's Holbsy, he's so romantic.
ReplyDeleteHeehee, I really loved that last picture. Good thing you're practicing. What is Fashion Week? I should probably know that, right?
The daughter of a friend of our family's is a model who will be at fashion week! Sonia Kukainis. Watch for her...although she'll probably be just one in a sea of tall, lanky, blondes.
ReplyDeleteThe air conditioner--bliss bliss for you! Go Holbs!
Pregnant belly buttons are the cutest..really! I remember being able to clean my belly button quite well when it popped out! And miracles of miracles it goes back in!!!
ReplyDeleteThe love of a husband can be measured in the BTU's of an air conditioner- he must love you a lot!
ReplyDeleteYou're right down the street from Julliard? You lucky girl!!! I am positively BRIMMING with jealousy :-)
ReplyDeletestop it right now with the jon hamm story. has a more attractive man ever existed?! ps: i bet they were abt dancers (american ballet theatre)--the school is in the same builiding as the juilliard dorms and they tend to be the ones that look like primas and wear leotards.
ReplyDeletepps: you are gorgeous, 8 months preggers and all.
That stripey shirt hurts my eyes. (Sorry if it's your favorite.)
ReplyDeleteFashion Week?! In your neighborhood? Photos, please, photos!
I need to hear more about Jon Hamm. Like you needed air conditioning.
ReplyDeleteIt's my dream to see a sea of ballet dancers all on the first day of school at ABT (a la Center Stage). Now that you have an AIR CONDITIONED apartment, you truly are living the dream, dear Natalie! Love!! : )
ReplyDeleteOh air conditioning! I'm so positibely thrilled for you. Also I think I will never truly believe that I'm too old to be a ballerina either... It just positively won't happen.
ReplyDeleteOh the ballerinas of NYC! I used to love seeing them when I was a little girl. They looked so ethereal to me. And oh how I wanted to be one! Never did happen though. But one day I'll have a little girl, and she'll be a ballerina!
ReplyDeleteJon Hamm? YES, PLEASE!
ReplyDeleteI am ashamed to say I do not know who Jon Hamm is, but I will be googling him right after I finish typing this.
ReplyDeleteAlso, your belly button is so super cute! Mine never popped out and I had so wanted it to!
Posers... Haha! Love it. Looking good Nat.
ReplyDelete{And Holbs, don't get all pouty, you do good posing too}
Ah the stickie out belly button. I remember it well, except that back when I was preggers it wasn't as cute to be preggers in tight shirts with stickie out belly buttons. Your's IS cute! And I have learned that men really do like pregnant women - it is that whole nuturing/mom thing they love.
ReplyDeleteAnd now that you have air conditioning (bless his little heart) ENJOY this last little bit!
Fashion week and ballerinas. Just what kind of life are you living out there? Fancy schmancy.
ReplyDeleteDancing Hippopotami = Disney's Fantastia....which has to mean it's cool, right?!
ReplyDeleteWait, Fashion Week!? As in Project Runway Fashion Week!? No way! Jeez, they're no where near close airing those episodes on TV yet. Season 8 still has like, 10 or 11 designers left I think. You must be sneaky and take photos for us! I wonder who made the top three...
ReplyDeleteDiamonds be damned. Nothing says true love like an airconditioner.
ReplyDeleteI love your belly button! Own it!!!
ReplyDeleteDid you ever find the post office? I think there's one in the Reebok building just up Columbus from the Church. And Regis lives in that building too, so look for him. :)
ReplyDeleteAs a ballet teacher, I can assure you...There is always time to fulfill your ballet dreams! A great way to start would be in a ballet "Mommy and Me" class, no matter the sex of the baby! Cheers to your dreams!
