it has been a muggy week. muggy! isn't muggy a funny word? don't think about it too hard, it's still a recession and there's a royal wedding to think about. is it still a recession?
we were running some muggy errands today, huck and i, accomplishing important things and solving international crises and refilling our nutella stash, when suddenly the skies opened up and all of that humidity came dripping down from the clouds.
"it's pouring out," said a rather sour-faced woman at the check out line of the trader joe's, as she eyed the bald, hatless baby strapped to my chest.
well, shoot.
we waited out the rain at the drug store next door. i bought some green peeps, and then i ate them really fast. they were just the perfect amount of stale. isn't this a really good blog post?
i bought an umbrella next and decided to walk to housing works real fast to look at wardrobes. it's a long story. but okay, i need a wardrobe because i'd like to move huck's crib into the closet so he can get some quiet while he sleeps, and our clothes will need somewhere else to live soon.
brandon and i are currently embroiled in a grand debate about whether we should buy a nice wardrobe now or a nice wardrobe later. and if later, then perhaps a junky wardrobe now? or just move now. or else just wait and not move yet but buy a nice wardrobe when we get a new apartment, and thus do a junky wardrobe now and/or no wardrobe at all but rather sit on our hands until some specified time that brandon won't clue me in on, at which point we'll move. or a nice wardrobe now. this makes more sense when i explain it while i'm not so tired.
in any case, wardrobes. huck wasn't too happy with the turn of events (still shopping? moo-oom!).
here are some pictures. i documented my muggy afternoon, because . . . you know?
I love that you bought green peeps and mentioned that perfect staleness :) LOVE IT!!
ReplyDeleteNooooo!!! Don't get rid of the furry babies! Think of Huck when he gets a little older. A boy NEEDS a dog (err...two dogs). :(
ReplyDeleteWith that said, Hucklebaby is getting cuter and cuter every day. How is that possible?? Is there a cap on cuteness?
cute pictures, love the peeps (altho i don't love the actual peeps? but i like marshmallows? i'm odd), also not so much the muggy. not looking forward to summer in the midwest, except it's been raining so much lately i am a little ready for some sunshininess!
ReplyDeletealso, also - i hope you're able to keep the fur babies. i know how much you do enjoy them. even the duff.
This post was fun to read! Oh, and I'm shocked, absolutely shocked that those peeps didn't turn your tongue green... how totally unfair! =)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday! <3 MuffinLovesBiscuit
I love this post. I love the way things come out of your brain. Is that weird sounding? I mean, it's definitely weird sounding, but is it too much weird sounding? Hopefully no.
ReplyDeleteAlso blue nail polish is better on toes than on fingers.
-Genevieve
I, too, was caught in the rain yesterday - the sky opened up just as I took the dog out for his afternoon walk. FUN!
ReplyDeleteAnd peeps? Can only be eaten when they are that perfect amount of stale. Glad yours were! ;)
i'm a fan of blue peeps, myself. (don't try to tell me they all taste the same. i won't believe you.) and blue nail polish. not so much a fan of the mugginess that has come around our parts as well.
ReplyDeleteoh, the ergo is so so horrible when it's muggy. you can't even take it off till you get home, especially since you wore an almost white t/shirt there... i can't contemplate colors other than gray, and i've been so for months now, how plain of me.
ReplyDeleteI would kill for some muggy, because for muggy you must have warmth! Oh, and my toes are blue so I guess I feel just fine about blue nail polish
ReplyDeleteI feel fine about all colors of nail polish. I ate a package of blue peeps last night and my tongue wasn't at all blue. I would like some muggy too, Florida was muggy and I loved her. Oklahoma is decidedly dry and my skin gets dry and then itchy. So muggy is dreamlike for me right now.
ReplyDeleteyou have amazing writing skills. anyone that can make me laugh after clocking a mere 3 hours of sleep is a superhero in my book. thanks
ReplyDeletedo you know, I don't think i've ever had peeps. wrong, no?
ReplyDeletebottleblack.blogspot.com
did you see the washington post peeps contest? you might die of cuteness.
ReplyDeletehttp://jenni-austria-germany.blogspot.com/2011/04/has-anyone-else-seenloved-this.html
but then again, you see huck every day and haven't died from cuteness yet.
It's hot like fire down here in the sunshine state. I totally feel ya on the underwear thing.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a lot of rain in Chicago, but it hasn't been warm enough to feel muggy. I almost wish we had some muggy, because I am SICK of cold! But today is sunny and beautiful, so no more complaining :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I totally hear you on the nice or crappy furniture debate. I really want a new bookcase, and could probably buy a buid it yourself model for like $150 at any point. But I kind of want a nice, real wood book case that will last a long time, which means waiting, and saving until it's responsible to buy. No easy answer, and I'll most likely just get impatient and buy the cheap one!
Happy Friday!
1. you are the cutest mamma (your high bun post from a few days ago makes me happy and now I find myself wanting to look like you in that post - is that creepy? I hope not!) and your baby boy is SO adorable!! Gushing!
ReplyDelete2. I just started reading your blog a few weeks ago and I just wanted to tell you that I <3 it.
Also 3. I can weirdly relate to this blog rant and that makes me happy b/c it means that maybe there are other people out there as tired as me?
If you go the cheap wardrobe route, I did this when I lived in NYC: Just throw a bar into the top of this puppy http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30141391
ReplyDeleteHey! I have that shirt! I'm tempted to buy the other two colors too. You know...just in case.
ReplyDeleteBlue nail polish = FUN! Ridiculous, but fun.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you ever decide you can't live without humidity, try the southern states. I'm not sure I'd know what to do without humidity. Seriously.
i am still stuck on the green peeps that were just the right amount of stale. yum!
ReplyDeleteI met your sister yesterday! I work at a restaurant in Rexburg and I saw her and knew you two were kin! Had to be! And I'll be darned...it was true!
ReplyDeleteI was star struck. I mean I practically met you! It made my whole day. (I'm sure you're laughing inside right now. Totally cool.)
I'll be the prez of your fan club, k?
have you tried the chocolate dipped peeps?? i ate three before i realized they were all gone.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh look how big your little guy is getting!! how crazy!!!
ReplyDeleteBlue polish? I love blue polish! I wore it on my toes at our wedding as my something blue, so whenever I wear it, I'm reminded of that beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is definitely addictive. Love it.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely going to check out Housing Works now!
Ok - this may feed your furniture fantasizing, but have you ever tried list-alert.com? It lets you put keyword alerts for Craigslist and sends you an email when something is posted.
Love those baby moccasins- where did you score 'em?
ReplyDeleteKiki, they are freshly picked moccasins! (they have an ad on my upper left sidebar)
ReplyDelete"the holbs and i are currently embroiled in a grande debate about whether we should buy a nice wardrobe now or a nice wardrobe later. and if later, then perhaps a junky wardrobe now? or just move now. or else just wait and not move yet but buy a nice wardrobe when we get a new apartment, and thus do a junky wardrobe now and/or no wardrobe at all but rather sit on our hands until some specified time that the holbs won't clue me in on, at which point we'll move. or a nice wardrobe now."
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness gracious! This made SO MUCH sense to me because I, too, live with someone who might be suggesting that we sit on our hands until some specified time that he will not clue me in on, at which point we'll... who knows what! And do you know how frustrating this is? I mean, tell me yes, tell me no. Either way I'll be happy. But leave me hanging like that? Not cool, man; not cool.
Good thing I love him! (Jeremy, that is, not your HolbsThinker. Although, I suppose in a round-about way I love The Holbs, too. He's my blogger-in-law? If you are a sister blogger, and you married him, that would make him my blogger-in-law, kind of, right?)
Hmm, obviously the sunshine has gotten to me. :-)
The ergo is so so horrible when it's muggy.
