all of my life i have looked forward to being a mom. i think the growing and nurturing of children is an esteemed calling, and it is something i take pride in having the opportunity to do.
when you have a baby you obviously have less time for yourself, but it hasn't been nearly as dire as many make it out to be. one thing motherhood has made me appreciate are the subtle details. little things, like a well-fitted shirt, or just the right color against your eyes, or a beautiful watch that makes you feel fancy, or high quality fabrics that take an outfit beyond "the only clean thing on hand" into "hey, i feel really good about myself today. now let's go change some diapers."

um, wow. You are beautiful, and this outfit is incredible in it's chic simplicity. Can I look like you and dress like you after I have a baby? and can my baby look like Huck? Ya know what, how about we do a Freaky Friday switheroo here. Who doesn't want to be an accountant living in a studio apt, right? Awesome.

check out my giveaway!
That dress is beautiful, Huck is so cute & you can never have too many stripes xx
ReplyDeleteyou look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI came over from Marvelous Kiddo & am following your blog now. You look amazing & I love the name Huck. Too cute. xo.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are AMAZING. So beautiful, SO NY. You're going to kick the competition's butt, no doubt.
ReplyDeleteI am suddenly feeling like a much less stylish mom...

Oh I really, really, really hope you win. You deserve it, being the fabulously gorgeous chic that you are. And with that little Huckeroo on your hip, how could you NOT win? How? It doesn't seem possible.
ReplyDeletewow. beautiful dress, beautiful pictures, beautiful kid and beautiful you! these are absolutely wonderful... the black and tan and green together is fantastic. yay you!
ReplyDeleteThat outfit is ugly. And also? Of course you have tons of free time! You do nothing! I'm sure it's so hard to juggle shopping and whining all the time with doing your hair and taking pictures of yourself. What a difficult life. You're a martyr.
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit and the color of that sling is perfect. I think you're right about style and motherhood, finding goodness in the simple details.
ReplyDeleteIt always drives me crazy when moms say that they can't look nice, yes it takes more effort, but it can certainly be done.
Hope you get that ipad and design more striped things!!!
This photos make me want to be a mama sooner than later! Just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos! Makes me feel a little bad that all day today I wore a bathing suit with an oversized husband tee over it...
ReplyDeleteNat! I don't often comment, but a) I loved your outfit, quickly followed by b) whoever that anonymous bloke is, I was terribly shocked by his/her rudeness! Even if someone doesn't like your particular outfit or style, so what, the world would be incredibly boring if we all had the exact same taste. Guess what, Nat found a creative way to earn an income, so taking pictures IS her job. It may not be brain surgery, but she puts a smile on my face.
ReplyDeleteAs cute and gorgeous and adorable and all good things that I think you are I thought it was very nice today to see you in something that had nary a stripe.
ReplyDeleteYou know of which I speak......
And wow, anonymous, why bother trashing someone you can't stand? Go somewhere else. We won't miss you, I promise.
ReplyDeleteAnd.... yes, I do see that the belt has stripes. You know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteHonestly......
You & dollie are NY stylish chic. Love the look and the pointers. Way to go! xoxox e.d.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that deliciously chubby angel attached to your hip will automatically make you win. Love it!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! :)
ReplyDeleteThat second-to-last photo melted me, Nat. And the second one, when he's leaning into you. That's my favorite part of the slings...how cuddly it makes the babies!
ReplyDeleteP.S.: I miss my hair, too. But, at least it's on strike for a good cause, right:) xo
you and baby H are so wonderfully cute together! I love these photos and I wantttt that maxi dress! It looks really great on you!
ReplyDeleteShe definitely couldn't handle brain surgery! She can't even capitalize her letters!
ReplyDeleteanonymous must have lots of free time. blah blah blah.
ReplyDeletewell done Nat. that outfit is something i would totally throw on. i have three boys and i still find the little bit of time it takes to "put myself together". the secret? you just get really good and really fast ;)
Love it! Those types of dresses do absolutely NOTHING for my figure, but I always try them on thinking "This one will be different..." They never are. You look AWESOME in it though! Jealous!
ReplyDeleteWhen you design your sling, I'm wondering if it's possible to put a zippered pocket in it somewhere that mom's can stash their keys, small wallet, diaper, etc.? Just wondering. I don't know if there even were slings back when I had my children.
ReplyDeleteMy mom didn't work when I was young. She spent her time cleaning house, making meals, etc. But we lived in a house and I had 5 older siblings. She certainly had a lot more to occupy her time. She did spend a lot of time sewing and knitting items which she then sold. Do suppose some anon person looking at her life would criticize her for "doing nothing" or wasting time knitting?
My point is - you and your husband decide what your family priorities are, how you will live and parent. Don't let someone else put you down - especially when they lack the conviction to sign their name.

I miss having only one kid--it's much harder to get dressed, do hair & makeup, and eat your own breakfast when you have two or more! And that second baby does a lot more damage to your body than the first! But while I wished I looked cuter than I do, I'm glad to have my two munchkins around. And you and Huck look very cute.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, I can't believe the rudeness of that anonymous commenter up there! RUDE!
ReplyDeleteI think you look gorgeous! I love the way the color of the sling really pops with the dress! I hope you win!
I love this dress and the color of your sling. I had the hardest time picking the color of mine! I'm not very adventurous and went with the neutral ones...but I love how you paired the bright sling with the monotone outfit.
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through Leigh linking your posts on Baby's First Year. I was happy to see that you'd be taking part in the Styleathon, as well. I hope you don't let a few negative comments get you down. In this world there will always be people that love and hate us, for reasons we can't really figure out. As long as you know how many people are on that "love" side, it should keep your feelings afloat.
You are looking chic as always! I just took my first trip to NY and thought how neat it would be to just run into you. And look! I was at that fountain! I recognize that staircase! Ha. Promise I'm normal. To prove it..I'm friends with Justin Hackworth!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is my absolute favorite. Especially now that I miss that dear NY.
Oh I guess raising a human being is "doing nothing all day" right? What an ass-hat thing to say. Nat you rule and Henry is going to end up curing the cancer that is growing on "anonymous" person's face because you were a stay at home loving mom. Whewf. Now thy I have that out of my system, I loooooove the Tshirt dress and want one immediately. Maxi dress for Mormons? Yup.
ReplyDeletethese are beauties. what a treasure to have of you and your wee boy.
ReplyDelete+++
love the watch!
love, lindsay
disjfgriortuj4weojfidjgiaoj DUUUUUDE. that picture of you and Huck in front of the stone, stained glass-esque mosaic is pretty much my favorite picture of the two of you ever. <3
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeletesee, i can be nice, too.
Great pics! I like the two pics of you and Huck on that bridge (or two diff bridges... can't tell). Kaitlyn did a good job!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! PERFECT! You, your son, your outfit, your sling, your locations, all of it is just amazing!
ReplyDelete-Hannah
Sweet, sweet photos, mom and baby. You are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSteph

ReplyDeleteDevine, devine and devine
ReplyDeleteomg! one of the cutest baby i ever did see!
ReplyDeletex
Pics one and nine were my two favs, but Huck's mohawk? Adorable! That one gets my vote even if it doesn't have your style or your sling in it. :-)
ReplyDeleteRound one? Does this mean you get to pick different slings and try them with different outfits? How fun! Can't wait to see more!
"when you have a baby you obviously have less time for yourself but it's certainly not so dire as many make it out to be."
ReplyDeleteWell this is certainly true if you have the luxury of considering having one (!) baby to be your full time job.
