i have decided that we are a brunch family. doesn't that sound nice? brandon thinks that is a cheesy idea, but you know what, brandon?
but can one just decide to be a brunch family? or perhaps one has to earn it somehow? how many brunches until it is official?
i just have feelings about brunch. amorous feelings. i have feelings like maybe nothing bad could ever happen to a person at brunch. i mean, it's food, that you eat, after sleeping in, mainly involving poached eggs. whoever thought of this idea was clearly a genius, and i would like to leave him my syrupy hollandaise thanks with home fries on the side and a tall glass of diet coke instead of a mimosa, please.
a few saturdays ago it was restaurant week, so we brunched at bar boulud, a very fancy brunchy place indeed. only now that i've typed it out i don't like to say "brunched" in the verb sense, that's silly sounding. good. see? it's important to really know your feelings about brunch, all the way through. i mean, that much is clear.
branodn's brunch includes pate with mini pickles,
because that is just the sort brandon i am married to.
Brunch is, THE BEST, meal of the day.
ReplyDeleteWhich is sadly not a sentiment shared by my partner, he doesn't see the point of combining two meals when you can just have two seperate ones instead.
But Eggs Benedict is my other lover, so we will continue to be happy without him.
What a happy, feel-good post. Chuckle, chuckle.
ReplyDelete(a) Brunch is the BEST.
ReplyDelete(b) Bar Boulud? You lucky duck.
(c) Have you read Kitchen Confidential? Oh, I hope so. It is a rawther vulgar, bruiser of a book, and he has (if memory serves) some tart words somewhere in there to say about brunch. But you know what? Anthony Bourdain can suck it. Because brunch is awesome.
@lisa i haven't read it but i have a maaaaaajor creepy old guy crush on anthony bourdain. i will continue to love him, regardless of his incorrect feelings on brunch :).
ReplyDeleteoooh holsby's brunch did not look so appetizing...hehe
ReplyDeleteHowever your making me crave holindaise!!! I love brunch too but I never get to have brunch since I wake up starving...wait then I eat again before lunch and then lunch, I guess i'm brunching everyday....(might have something to do with being pregnant:)
i love huck's hair. he's getting so much of it. and the sweaty head look really works for him!
ReplyDeletei agree brunch is amazing. i also love a diet coke with brunch, particularly if i had a little too many mimosas the day before. luckily for you, nyc is brunch central, so your thoughts on becoming a brunch can very much be realized.
ReplyDeleteWe love brunch too. When we have afternoon church we will have a gourmet brunch with friends before church at our house. So nice to eat breafasty foods for what is essentially a dinner party. One slight problem though...everyone gets a bit sleepy during sacrament meeting!
ReplyDeletebut your sunglasses! i love your sunglasses! where did you find them?
ReplyDeleteI love how Huck lives in white, onesies! There is nothing cuter :)
ReplyDeleteIf you ever have the chance, Sunday brunch at Cafe Boulud is amazing too! That Daniel knows what he's doing when it comes to brunch.
ReplyDeleteI love it. My mother says our family is a dessert family, so of course you can be a brunch family :)
ReplyDeleteYour little feller suddenly has so. much. hair. Or maybe it's just these pictures. Either way, super-cute.
ReplyDeleteI think you can decide to just be brunch people, because I have just now made that decision also.
ReplyDeletelooks delightful. and I would like to be a brunch person too. So I am? yes.
ReplyDeleteBrunch is our favorite!
ReplyDeleteI think I have close to the same, if not THE same, sunglasses as you.
ReplyDeleteBrunch is my absolute favorite as well. I don't like going to breakfast...too early. And lunch is well...nothing really exciting. Brunch however...fabulous.
ReplyDeletewhere did you get those shades!!!! sessi mama
ReplyDeleteLOVE brunch. Except then I have to add in another meal in the day just to make sure I don't miss one...you know, wouldn't want to miss a meal! Heaven forbid!
ReplyDeleteP.S. where did you get your saltwater sandals I have seen in previous posts? The adult ones?
@erin--i got them through the manufacturer online a few years ago, but you can get them online at madewell.com. they are THE BEST, and really comfortable.
ReplyDelete@rebekah and @eva and @melanie--thanks! they're vintage, i scored them in moscow at my favorite antique mall! i have DREAMS about that antique mall, that place was sooooo good to me.
Holbs is snacking on a delicious combo. I'd steal it right out of his hands.
ReplyDeleteNO WAY! I am 98% sure that I went to college with the guy in the blue shirt sitting at the table behind Huck! That is crazy! (Put a smile on my face, though.) :-)
ReplyDeleteYou don't happen to have any closer pictures of him, do you? The guy behind Huck?
