sunday evening found us wandering near west 90th street and riverside drive.
when suddenly the air felt..... mossy.
and i went--wait a gosh darn minute here--i know this place!
you see, it was calling to me.
i wandered just a bit farther.
i found the right street.
and then... my breath catches in my chest until i hear three little words...
kathleen.
kelly's.
apartment!
This. is. perfection! I've always wanted to walk past her apartment! Do you know what street it's on? My entire 23 years spent in NYC and I have no idea! (I'm a Lower East Side girl...)
ReplyDelete330 west 89th street. south side. almost to riverside drive. it FEELS kathleeny there, i swear it! you can't miss it.

ReplyDeleteLOVE it! SO cool.
ReplyDeleteI love your love for "You've Got Mail". I definitely share it with you. One of my favorites. I used to run through Riverside park(just tweeted that to you) and every time I ran, I ran right by the place where Brinkley runs up to her with Joe following. I pictured that scene each time. It was my favorite place to run in NYC!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, thats only the dream of my life! Someday I'll have to explore it! can you say bucket list!!!!

ReplyDeletei pass the mrs. doubtfire house in san francisco from time to time (and the full house one). not as cool as kathleen kelly, but robin williamsish.

ReplyDeleteGrowing up in NY, one of my many, many book-homes was the Corner Bookstore, on Madison & 93rd - I think that was partially the inspiration for the Shop Around the Corner. Oh! And I had my own Kathleen Kelly moment the other week: http://www.archiphotovist.com/2012/03/26/book-pusher/

ReplyDeletewe stayed in the UWS on our trip to NYC and stumbled across the restaurant that she was to meet her blind date - its such a lovely area, I preferred it to the UES and even downtown although the village is beautiful and has a great buzz! so great to walk and explore...you're lucky to be living there!
