the huckleberry and i have been on an absurd number of airplanes these days and huck is saintly and sweet each time. we've been on over twenty flights so far. right? absurd. we recently flew our twentieth and twenty-first out to california and back, and that stinker was a total dream. boat start to finish. thanks, buddy.
gorgeous views of the hudson bay on take off
huck promptly falls asleep for the duration of the flight.
we shared some blue bell during our layover at dallas/fort worth. brandon raves about this stuff and it was our first time. actually going to say it, texas. this stuff is amazing.
we unexpectedly got a full row to ourselves on the second leg of our trip.
huck sat happily with his bag of pretzels the entire time.

not pictured:
the drive to the coast afterward where huck shouted at me for a full hour and a half.
and then it was time for disneyland and long, sunny days on the beach!

those are beautiful views! what an angel he is. i always hear horror stories from friends of how their children scream the entire time on flights. you got lucky, mama. can't wait to hear more about your exciting travels.

Weird about Huck and the car. My Jacob is the same way! Has been since we took him home from the hospital. My family live three hours by car from me so... however he does enjoy planes. Go figure! Great pictures by the way.
ReplyDeleteGlad your trip to my hometown was on just about the most amazing weekend ever!!! Can't wait to do Disneyland with my Zoe girl!!! xoxo

ReplyDeletehe's so sweet! you are very lucky that he does so well otherwise I'm sure flying would be torture!
ReplyDeleteP.s. Where are Hucks adorable black and white pants from ( the ones in older post with the geometric print)?? L:O:V:E!!!! MY Zoe needs them!!!
ReplyDeletethey're by thief and bandit! they have an etsy shop!
DeleteHe looks like an angel in that sleeping photo--and that is seriously the best reason to buy a plane I have ever heard ;)
ReplyDeletegreat pictures!
ReplyDeletehe looks so precious.
and twenty flights?! why you haven't gotten an award is beyond me.
xx jes
a well behaved child? i'm so jealous.
ReplyDeletei'm one of those annoying "multi-post bloggers..." but i blame it on taking too many pictures. i feel overwhelmed!
Great pics! The Blue Bell Ice Cream brought back memories. I used to live in Dallas, and Blue Bell was the ONLY ice cream! Don't have it out west though!
ReplyDeleteout east either! and i TOTALLY see the cult following. it was SO GOOD.
DeleteGirlfriend, I am so with you on the angel in the plane versus the man-beast in the car. Silver lining is that it's turned me from a hater of flying into a complainer that airlines really need to start serving small rural towns where my family people live...
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun trip so far! Those shots of NYC are what made me fall in love with the city when I was young and visited for the first time - so happy to have called it home now for 5 years. I share your annoyance with multi-part travel posts but it's so hard to get it down in one and I can't stand blog posts that drag on and on. I'm very behind in getting my multi-part posts up on my trip to Nigeria with my toddler. I have 3 up so far and about 5 more to go. Fun times!
ReplyDeleteNatalie - we need a happy flying baby tutorial NOW!!! You need to tell us in exact intricate detail everything that you did!
ReplyDeleteyou're so sweet! i wrote about it once on babble (uh... huck wrote about it once on babble?) it's right here: http://blogs.babble.com/toddler-times/2012/01/26/the-toddler-travel-tips-of-huckleberry-holbrook/
Deleteblue bell!!!! oh how i miss bluebell!
ReplyDeleteGood job on the Blue Bell! And good job on the flight! Wow. My Little Dude has flown twice. And I'm still recovering...
ReplyDeleteHehe, You always make me laugh!! I totally {skim skim skim} vacation diaries sometimes, too...but not today :) Huck sounds like he was {mostly} a total dream; I mean seriously, he looks so well-behaved on the plane (People magazine and pretzels do it for me everytime, too!)
ReplyDeletei am over the moon jealous he travels that well. nuff said.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh...Your post brought back a few travel with baby memories. Has Huck every blessed you with a super stinky diaper while flying?! How exactly do you change a diaper on a plane?
ReplyDeleteSo cute! And it's really great that he is a good traveller. Not just for your sanity but everybody else's. Nothing is awful like sitting in front of a screeching baby. Although I know the parents can't help it, it's still awful.
ReplyDeleteBut, I mean, why else could you expect out of Huck? He seems like the biggest saint of a baby ever born into existence.
Minus the whole car thing, you know.
I love that he is reading wedding magazines! :)
ReplyDeleteOr maybe it's a gossip mag?! Even better! Little Huckster!
ReplyDeleteTotally reasonable!
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, so very beautiful! and i love all of these images, as always. no fun having babies scream though. so glad to hear that disneyland went well, and can't wait to see the pictures!
