it was a beautiful, misty gray day on the promenade on saturday. you could barely see the empire state building behind the foggy clouds. our favorite thing to do in brooklyn is walk along the east river. seven years ago we lived just down the street from the promenade in brooklyn heights and we love to go back every chance we get. (seven years?!?) there's a great playground on the promenade we like to hit while we're there. brooklyn playgrounds are way more chill than manhattan playgrounds.
we are still working on conquering the slides. huck is a very cautious gentleman.
should you come across a set of monkey bars
i don't recommend finding out if you can still do dumb stuff.
(but yes, i still can.)
in related news: the holbrooks have decided we're over the swings.
look at henry's expression. he's not enjoying it.
brandon complained his butt hurt after, and they made me mildly sea sick.
what's happened to us?
thanks for the great day, brooklyn!
These pictures made me smile so big. Your family is the cutest, you are a lucky lady! xo
ReplyDeleteTrue story about NYC parks being full. I didn't have any kiddos when I lived there, but I have seen what you speak of. And I read a NYCs Motherload about playground etiquette (like when do you step in when another kid does something mean to your kid and their parent isn't stepping in) and I thought, OH THE DRAMA! Thank the Lord for my relatively empty playgrounds in Austin!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to have littles to take to the park either! What a wonderful way to look at life.
ReplyDeletegosh i love parks. and that SKIRT! please oh please where is it from?
ReplyDeletej.crew!
Deleteof course. haha,always!
DeleteI get so sick on swings now, too! Surely, it's not because we're getting old!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear I'm not the only mom who feels sea-sick on the swings ... how does that happen? I never felt that way when I was younger.
ReplyDeletei'm laughing out loud at huck's "not-enjoying-it face".
ReplyDelete1. Obsessed with your ensemble.
ReplyDelete2. My toddler hates swings too. She talks about 'swiss!!' all day long then freaks at the real deal. Smartie.
Swings make me feel sick too! I'm pretty sure it's a sign of age. I never remember them making me feel that way as a child.
ReplyDeleteyou are the most hilarious mama blogger i follow! love it xx

Swings make me midly sea sick, too! It's a problem because I love me a good swing at an empty park during summer nights every now and again...
ReplyDeleteTHAT SKIRT!!!!! ....and yeah...i've done the dumb monkey bar stuff and looks like you whooped all over me. i am not 7 years old and in gymnastics anymore, apparently.
ReplyDeleteNatalie, is this the skirt? http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/skirts/maxi/PRDOVR~85394/85394.jsp

ReplyDeleteI also get terribly sea sick from a swing! Looked like a wonderful day to explore the city.
ReplyDeleteIt's so crazy how time flies and how much we can change in such a short period of time. You look like your rocking those monkey bars, it's weird are they are so much harder when you get older. Also Hucks face on the swing will have me laughing all day.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!!! Your stories are so beautiful and fun!!
ReplyDeleteRegards and kisses from Spain

What a wonderful day out. As I sit in my office in Sydney (Australia) I'm just a tiny bit (ok a very bit) jealous of your Brooklyn outing.
ReplyDeletetoo funny - i went swinging this weekend on the lower east side and just fell in love with it all over again. that last picture is wonderful!
ReplyDeletehahahah love this!!!
ReplyDeleteso much fun..it looks like!
ReplyDeleteAs a nanny who worked in BK Heights for many years I know that park very well. For little ones I like Harry Chapin just a few blocks down, right before that horrible hill.
ReplyDeleteLOL...swings make me motion sick too!
