on saturday a couple of my girlfriends came over for some major girl time while brandon took himself down to macy's to find some new work shirts. macy's on a saturday! he was there for almost five hours. just thinking about it gives me the shivers. i have feelings about the macy's on 34th and they aren't terribly charitable, steve.
we decided to watch all the meg ryan movies i own because why would that even need an explanation, come on. we ate breakfast food all day long, too. kaitlyn brought daisies. at one point during when harry met sally i brought out an entire two-pound bar of frozen belgian chocolate and we all cracked off huge pieces and spent a good thirty minutes slowly working our way through them. this entire paragraph is a ridiculous cliché. it was a really good time.
i recommend hitting the megs in chronological order, and we found that a savory crepe break in the middle of sleepless in seattle is a really good way to go.
p.s.
kaitlyn had to leave during the last 10 minutes of joe vs. the volcano
so, kaitlyn! spoiler alert!
the volcano spits them out!
Sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteI magically found a way to work in an You've Got Mail quote into my grad school app. I figure they're either going to think it's so cool and admit on the spot or not read the rest of my app and reject me.
woops... 'admit me'
Deleteim so jealous of all of this. i love meg ryan. seriously.

Aw crap, we should have taken a photo of you! But that fruit salad does look pretty darn appealing ;)
ReplyDeleteI think this is the most fantastic idea I've ever heard! Especially when adding in crepes. I do hope there was nutella involved.
ReplyDeleteAh, man! I wish I had a bunch of girlfriend who loved Meg Ryan movies. Le sigh. BTW, Huck looks a little dubious of all that estrogen flying. Hee hee.
ReplyDeleteditto what erica said. i'm shameful for not bringing my camera. but besides that tragedy, saturday was good for my soul on numerous levels.
ReplyDeletethx for hosting n! shall we have a julia marathon next?

ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect Saturday. And daisies on top of that? Way to set the mood for the Meg Ryan marathon. :)
ReplyDeleteI had a Cary-Grant-A-Thon this weekend, which included An Affair to Remember. It's insane that I hadn't seen it before and also how long it has been since I've watched Sleepless in Seattle. Sounds like a great time :)
ReplyDeletekind of completely off topic, but... can you eat the skin of a kiwi? i have been eating kiwi my entire life and never once ate the skin.
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing! What fun! :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a seriously good time. And daisies!!! They're so happy!
ReplyDeleteI love those movies! My friends and I watch them all the time :)
ReplyDeleteI watched Kate & Leopold on Sunday morning and I must say while I don't feel it's one of her best, Meg has such timeless beauty. I love her.
ReplyDeleteLove Meg Ryan but I have to admit- I've never seen joe vs. the volcano!? Need to remedy that.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this. (Except Joe v. The Volcano. Megs? What was going on there, honey.)
ReplyDeleteThis has given me so much inspiration! I was thinking about having a movie marathon but I wasn't sure what movies to watch. Meg Ryan is great!
ReplyDeleteooo i would like a plate of that food right about now.
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, you've got mail and sleepless in seattle are my all time favorites!! this day sounds like one of heaven! in love!

Oh I love Frenck Kiss! The airplane scene is my fav! Gotta love Meg!
ReplyDeleteOh! I have to admit, I love a bit of Meg. I love a bit of girlie evenings in even more, too! As for Joe Vs. The Volcano, I haven't seen it. Crazy-talk!
ReplyDeleteI must say, as a man, my favorite Meg Ryan movie is "In the Cut". She is one hot cookie in that movie, and I would love to have had her as my english teacher. "How did you learn to do that?"

This looks like an amazing time!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me miss girlfriend time! I swear eventually I am going to be finished with my second degree and I will have girlfriend time.

Looks fantastic!!! A girl's night is much needed around here!
ReplyDeleteericaaa! love that girl.
ReplyDeletethis past weekend my bestie (is it still ok to say that when you're 28? probably not) had a very similar afternoon. We loaded up as many Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan dvds as we could, ate delicious scones, made a girly Pinterest-inspired spritzer, and made those braided yarn bracelets that we used to make when we were 12. It really is lovely to have some girlfriends that you can just be THAT girly with.
