going through those turnstiles gives us a little thrill every time. and i still get emotional when i see the castle from main street, and during the fireworks, and also any time i'd think of my dad or we'd round a corner and come face to face with a disney character in costume. like clockwork, i tell you. that disney is just dang magic.
oh, disney. you've got a fan in us holbrooks.
(even though i write for your blog and didn't even get a discount!)
(even though i write for your blog and didn't even get a discount!)
amen sister. my husband grew up in florida and i in california - so there is the eternal battle of disneys, though he has never been to disneyland.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh that photo of Huck running by the word Huck written on the wall - that is a framer lady!

awww looks like so much fun. we looooove disneyland so i think i might agree with you on those things if i were biased with d-land. love your outfits.
ReplyDeleteWent to Disneyland a few months ago and was kind of delighted and very dissappointed over the span of the trip. What IS with the Swiss Family Robinson's house becoming Tarzan's treehouse? And the haunted mansion is now a Nightmare Before Christmas ride. And the renovations to the original Pirates ride... UGH! SO.Not.A.Fan. But there were definitely magical moments, too. Disney will always have a place in my childhood heart, but I won't be making room in my wallet for D-land in the next decade if I can help it. :)
ReplyDeletemy husband has never been to disneyland and oh, it makes me so sad! and that picture of huck running along the fence with huck on it is just the cutest! can't wait to see more pictures! :)
ReplyDeletei saw some pictures on you twitter, but i wanted some more. these are amazing. you, parents look gorgeous, and huck. oh. in that mickey pants? no words for it! :) thank you, to sharing your moments with us. i really appreciate and happy for that. have a lovely day!

ahh makes me want to go there even more, for my little one's second birthday! can't wait for more pictures!!
ReplyDeleteI love huck's mickey outfit!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been back to Disneyland in years, but as a girl who was raised on the Land, I can say with confidence it will always have my heart. Disney World...pfffttttt. you can try to be as awesome as Disneyland all you want, but you will not succeed.
ReplyDeleteoh, huck w/ a tail!! adorable!! i love your family. y'all are the bee's knees! : )
ReplyDeleteHuck's mouse outfit is the cutest thing of my life. And I love the pictureof the guys in the rocking chair. :)
ReplyDeleteI went to Disney World first and I didn't know any better and I liked it. But going to Disneyland for the first time in my life I was really impressed and cried a lot. What it is with that place that makes you so darn emotional?
ReplyDeleteShould we not all be walking around with little mousy tales stitched to our bottoms? Would that not be the most perfect answer to all life's biggest questions? I think so. =)

Jigga what's a churro?!?!?! I'm confused how anybody doesn't know what a churro is. She's in Flordia for crying out loud! They sell them on the street there!
ReplyDeleteHuck looks uber cute in his Mickey Mouse shorts and tail. My fav photo is of Huck in the rocking chair with his Daddy and of Hucky running by his name. Love 'em!
I used to work on Disney Cruise Line...now that's where the fun is!! ;) You should try that next.
I'd love to go to Disney Land.
ReplyDeleteOh my, love his little Mickey outfit!
ReplyDeleteOh and I've only been too Disneyland in Paris, wish I could go someday soon
ReplyDeleteOh Huck is so adorable! So are you, love the bang-braid.
ReplyDeletei was all ready to comment that huck in suspenders is the cutest thing ever, and then i saw huck in mickey mouse shorts. and oh my god, huck in mickey mouse shorts! also, love love love anything and everything disney.
ReplyDeleteOk. Just to reiterate what everyone else is saying...I almost DIED FROM CUTENESS OVERLOAD when I saw Huck's mouse shorts. That is officially my happy thought of the day!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd it took me about 30 seconds to figure out how you "got" Huck's name on that fence. ;) In my defense, I'm on summer break which = summer break brain!
Glad you guys had a good time!
hah, you went to the wrong disneyland! the original definitely has more than ONE churro cart, since i ate about 4 in various lands during my last trip there.
ReplyDeleteHere is what I love about Disney. Everyone can wear as much Disney clothing and accessories as they want with no judgement. I love that!
ReplyDeleteraised in florida. lived in LA as an adult. disneyland doesn't hold a candle to disneyworld. world is waaaaay better. :) but that's just my biased opinion. haha!
ReplyDeleteThe Magic Kingdom always gives my heart a warm feeling of awesome-little-kid-ness again. Can't wait to take my future little kiddos there someday!
ReplyDeleteYOu need to visit again next fall (2013) they're doing construction on fantasy land (prob why it was so disappointing right now) and it will be AMAZING!! Let me find the link... here's one! http://www.insidethemagic.net/2011/08/new-fantasyland-opening-timeline-more-details-for-disney-world-expansion-emerge-from-imagineer-interview/
ReplyDeletethey'll have two new castles- belle's and ariels, belle's village, ariel's grotto (better than it is now), sleeping beauty's forest, cinderella's house, two dumbo rides and an entire circus area, and more!
We love Disney here! I've had a pass since I was 9 years old to Disneyland an now I go weekly with my husband parents and son :) we also do disneyworld every year. :)Looks like you had a great time. The pictures are adorable and your family is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI am a Disneylander, through and through. I've heard from others that Disney World is just too overwhelming. I don't like change. I think I stick with the Land of Disney.
ReplyDeletethank you for that comparison between the land and the world. now i know! i am a huge fan of disneyland (husband and i even had an annual pass last year! oh how glorious that was!) and have always been curious about "magic kingdom" and have always kind of been of the mindset that disneyland is the ORIGINAL and therefore superior, no matter how BIG disneyworld may be. thanks for proving even more to me that this is so. :)
ReplyDeleteand, um, no churros?! NOT okay.
of course, as always, your little family is the cutest. love huck's little mickey get-up!! you're making me get that disney itch again...
I was just in Disney World this past May! I had so much fun there, even though I had been before! It's so amazing just seeing all the things from my childhood brought to life, although I've never been to Disneyland! I'll get there one day though!
ReplyDeletei haven't been to DW since i was 12, but this makes me want to get on a plane and go tomorrow. or yesterday.
ReplyDeletethe one of huck running past the huck and tom wall is just priceless. and where did his awesome red shoes come from if i might ask?
ReplyDeleteas a tri-city floridian i'd like to chime in to say they do not sell churros on the streets here! (in the costcos, yes.) you're a girl after my own heart- wearing polka dots to magic kingdom.
ReplyDeleteI love reading your posts about Disney because I am a big fan as well. I can relate to your posts because you too appreciate the details in Disneyland that make it so special. I just wrote a post a few days ago about my love of Disney and the history that makes the park more interesting and enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI've read your blog for a while now and it's always a treat to read your quirky style of writing. It's real and honest.
I would love for you to stop by the blog I write with my sisters and read my post about Disneyland and what it means to me.
Have a good day!
I love those mickey pants. Too cute.
ReplyDeleteAlso a problem to an experienced Disneylander: everything in the Magic Kingdom is similar enough to Disneyland that you think you know where everything should be, and then you keep failing at finding what you're looking for. Disneyland is superior in oh so many ways.
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, you make this place look even more magical than it already is. ADORABLE is an understatement!
ReplyDeletexo TJ
I've only ever been to Disneyland but I'm glad to know it's the Real Deal - we were just there last week! Somehow we forgot to eat churros but we did invest in a family-size turkey leg (totally worth it). When they played the Baby Mine song during the fireworks and I had my daughter leaning on me and my 18-month-old asleep on my shoulder, you bet there were real tears. Also my baby boy thought Small World was the most amazing and we rode it together multiple times while the older two drug their dad back to Star Tours.
ReplyDeleteHuck's mickey pants?! Love! I wish I'd had that idea.
Those pants are too much! What a cute tail :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing Photos! Looks like you all had such a blast!
ReplyDeleteOhmygosh- the outfits you guys have are just plain awesome! Love.
ReplyDeletexo Becca
I agree, your outfits are always fantastic. If you're answering outfit questions, please do tell where you got your great t-shirt. I love all things 'signal flag'.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are just gorgeous! Huck is adorable beyond words. I just have to say, that picture of you and Huck at Adventureland, where your faces are together? Stunning. That really needs to be blown up and gifted to family members, put on your photowall, etc - it's just wonderful. I haven't been to Disney in ten years {or even home to the USA in two years} but you're making me want to go so badly. I need a churro!
ReplyDeleteit really is magical...love the teeny tiny tail too.
ReplyDelete~deirdre
My faves:
ReplyDelete1. The pic of you in your hat while Huck is fiercely ripping his off, and yet you posted the pic.
2. Huck's mouse tail.
3. Huck and dad in the rocking chairs. Priceless!
Aww Huck's mouse tail was the cutest thing ever!!!
ReplyDeleteI have kids although older than yours but I so remember those baby days! I loved your post about memorizing them because as moms who were ahead of me on their journey, as I am ahead of you now, told me: "It goes by sooo quickly; cherish it all."
ReplyDeleteAnd now mine are 16, 14, and 10 and my heart is already aching for those precious times you are having with Huck...but it's fun to go with them on their journeys too.
Regarding Disney: nice, luxurious, and I like luxury. But am not a fan of the parks, not even when the kids were small. It's not my idea of fun. I know...they like it. And it sounds like you are having an extra special nice time in your luxury accommodations there. As a now 12-year resident of Florida who lives AT the beach I'd love to show you and anyone else who comes...the real Forida. The natural springs, the rivers, the good time, old-fashioned fun swinging on rope swings and jumping off high platforms, free floating throughout the air against a beautiful backdrop of trees and sky (my photos!) until they *PLOP* into the Suwannee River. And the clear water springs! Oh, I tell you, my kids (and I) have had so much more fun on our day trips away from the beach (cause it's in our backyard, it's an every day thing) to the inner part of the state and seeing its natural beauty and swimming in 'real' splash mountains. I have some stories on my blog about it (this did not start out as a blatant attempt for hits - go see it, or not). Search the term 'Blue Springs' or 'Ichetucknee Springs' and you will see only a sliver of what I'm talking about it! Otherwise, carry on with your fun! I'm not a girl who likes camping so I do enjoy coming home at night from these excursions. However....I did recently find that some of our state parks have nice, and i mean NICE (for cabins!) on the property, so we just came back from one of our "glamping" trips. Oh, so fun. Springs, countryside, photo shoots on remote train tracks, rivers... to our cozy cabin in the woods with its screened in porch, air conditioning, shower, kitchen... you get the idea. It's no Disney-created Key West, but we loved it! Have fun. You and your family are adorable and I'm copying your braid. :-)
my blog that has posts about our trips from the past years (didn't write much last summer) : http://www.atlanticbeachlife.com
ReplyDeleteI live in Atlantic Beach, FL which is in NE Florida and I love the beach!!
I love reading about your life in NYC and I love living in this beach town, too. So many cool places to live, all of us.
Girl, your family's coordinated outfits make my heart smile big time!
ReplyDeleteThose Mickey shorts are to die for! Complete with mouse tail. Love it. Looks like you had a mighty good time despite the few disappointments.
ReplyDeleteOh please tell us where you got those Mickey shorts for yuck! So stinking cute!
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on being bummed by the lack of churros at Disney world
