FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS ON A RAINY DAY

people of my blog! it is LOUSY outside. hooray for that 24-pack of embroidery floss i bought at michael's over the winter. all those years at girls camp apparently didn't go to waste if i can still braid up a friendship bracelet. (also: i still weirdly remember that you can eat black ants if you're lost in the woods and desperate for food, and that they supposedly taste like lemons. though i wasn't brave enough to find that out for myself.)

i sort of got myself on such a friendship bracelet making kick last week that it was all i did for three whole nights. i was tying knots in my eyelids when i closed my eyes. it was pretty much bliss.

i may or may not have made matching bracelets for the three of us. okay okay, i did. it was brandon's idea. he texted me from work requesting "a matching friendship bracelet with henny." and i was all, but i'm not making henny a bracelet. and then it dawned on me that i WAS making henny a bracelet. and two for his parents, since that's not nerdy at all.

go team!

When I grew up I always seemed to have friendship bracelets in progress pinned to my shorts with the thread stuffed into my pocket to be able to work on them at any point I could. I love them.

  7. So cute! I need this for me and the hubs now, though I have no idea if he would wear it. I am teaching myself how to knit and I had this terrible dream about knitting, it got crazy.

  16. So cute :) I did this for my boyfriend too. It's fun but so tedious!

I've heard about that NY weather from my readers! I hope you all stay dry, and I don't have to say find something fun to do inside. You got that covered. :)

  17. Cutest! Yea babies in bracelets! I made a bracelet for my manfriend last summer and he wore it all year. The best part was, when it started to come off he asked me to make him another one. We're either superstitious, sentimental, or both! :)

  18. The ant thing is true! My dad was in the bishopric for lots of girls camps, and he started a tradition where you had to eat an ant one night if you wanted the opportunity to eat dinner. Kind of ridiculous, but it worked. And yes, very small and very lemony.

  21. it IS dreary around these NYC parts! Is it weird that I kind of like it? It's like the perfect chill out weather for me. Also, I've never been able to make a friendship bracelet. Ever. It's far too complex for me. And, hi! Long time lurker, first time commenter.

  22. What I am trying to figure out is how your nails are always so perfectly shaped?! But seriously... Also, I was really hoping friendship bracelets were going to make a trendy come back. Hopefully you just kick started the movement.

  34. Hey – great blog, just looking around some blogs, seems a really nice platform you are using. I’m currently using WordPress for a few of my blogs but looking to change one of them over to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you would recommend about it?
