there was this one moment on saturday when brandon spontaneously announced to our friends in the middle of crossing the brooklyn bridge that we were now on "the official holbrook brooklyn tour!" that i knew the day was about to be pretty darn amazing.
the official holbrook brooklyn tour!
who even knew that existed!?
apparently,
the official holbrook brooklyn tour includes:
the bridge
a double chocolate chunk at the brooklyn ice cream factory
a walk up the promenade
then down to iron chef house sushi (our favorites are the monkey rolls and iron chef spicy rolls)
and end with the famous 2/3 train back to manhattan from clark street.
now go forth and brooklyn!
p.s. for those who have asked
huck's shirt was a gift from petite lemon
my tee is zara, and my skirt is from madewell. ;)
These pictures are stunning! (Love Huck's shirt!)
ReplyDeleteHmmmm- I see we don't wear our garments anymore
ReplyDeleteYou are kidding me, Renee! Seriously??
Deletehmmm, I see you have a mote in your eye.
DeleteNot that it's at all anyone's business, but I am. That is a perfectly modest outfit where are you getting that?
DeleteNatalie you inspire me! You always dress fabulously. Thank you.
DeleteI'm not Mormon (and a little confused, but I looked it up) and I have to say it seems more immodest to ask someone about their underwear...on the internet. This outfit is total class.
DeleteHe has a Huck-a-saurus tshirt! He uses chopsticks!
ReplyDeleteI love your kid.
Walking across the Brookyln Bridge was one of my most favourite NYC experiences...you're so lucky to be able to do it whenever you like.

ReplyDeleteDo you ever read Mo Willems books to Huck? My little guy loves him. There's one, "Knuffle Bunny" (plus 2 sequels) that takes place in Brooklyn and he mixes his artwork with b&w images of Brooklyn. I bet Huck would enjoy! Mama too; his books are super cute.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Yes, ice-cream is the new health food.
ReplyDeleteAhhh! That shirt is ADORABLE.
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I was in New York for like 24 hours earlier this year and walking across the Brooklyn Bridge was amazing.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I know one of the owners of the Gran Electrica taco place you put up there! He is my husband's cousin's husband. Does that even make sense? :)
Natalie! I love your outfit! I may not be able to recreate the Brooklyn tour anytime in the near future, but I have got to recreate that outfit!

Regarding that garment comment: if I wore a shirt that low-cut, you'd see, like three inches of my garments. Seeexxxxyy. But that's because I have gross third-trimester boobs I've started to consider carrying around in the crook of my arm. You know those wheeled platforms for dogs whose back legs don't work? I'd take one now for the front half of my body. A large platform for baby with an upper shelf for the girls. UGH. But it just goes to show, when you're on the petite end of the spectrum garments will be A LOT more forgiving.
ReplyDeleteGarments: like everything else in the church, it's up to you to decide how to fit them into your life. Same goes for thoughts, attitudes, entertainment, beverages (I just finished my THIRD diet Coke of the day), entertainment and its ratings, etc. It's a lot more fun to eyeball others' choices rather than our own! But in the end, our choices are strictly between us and the Lord. And there's nothing to be gained by speculating on others' choices and the Lord's opinion of them. You do know, though, that I hate you and your skinny little body right now, seeing as I weigh 15 pounds more than I did six months ago, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteCan you please do a tutorial on how you get that much of a blurred background on images where there is a fairly large focused area (ie. where you're standing)? I can only manage it when I take a picture of online sombodies head... and I have a similar camera (Canon T3) and the same lens (you still use the 50mm 1.8?).
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your photos. You have such an artistic eye. I always thought anyone with a good camera could take good pictures...then I got a good camera and realized that wasn't the case!
ReplyDeleteI love his Huck a Saurus t-shirt!! So cute! That sushi looks awesome too.
ReplyDeleteLooks so fun!
ReplyDeleteI was just there! The Brooklyn Bridge was one of my favorite things in New York. Your photos are GORGEOUS. You really did the bridge justice. And it helps that you are much cuter than I am in your pictures! :) What a fun day-- thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletehuck-o-saurus! I love it! And I agree that ice cream is the new health food.
ReplyDeleteThis looks so fun! :)

ReplyDeleteI am going to NYC next week so thank you for this post. I have never been to Brooklyn and so now it's on my list to visit. Also, you rock those polka dots so well!
