brandon and i talked it over and we've decided that 2012 was one of our best yet. 2012 has been straight up bliss.
every year like to choose a focus for the year. in 2010, the year we were finally able to conceive, i chose creation. last year, it was finding beauty. this year i think i'd like to work on being more mindful.
for christmas i put together a book of all our favorite photographs from the year for us and both sets of grandparents. as i flipped through our copy on christmas day, i was struck by how great life is. it really is a pretty snazzy life we got. we're lucky to have it.
cheers to us, friends.
a few of my favorite photos from 2012 after the jump.
i hereby declare 2012 officially closed!

happy new year, friendalie! i cannot believe how much sweet huck has grown, just since your first disney trip of the year! see you at disney in 2013?! :)
ReplyDeleteCan I just say, I really like your blog and your little family. You have just the right blend of humility and self-deprecating humor/realization of one's own silliness that keeps me coming back. Blogs are such a weird thing...so fickle and narcissistic but also can be quite powerful. Yours is really one of the good ones. I used to follow a hundred or more bloggers on my feed, but now I've wittled it down to just a few gems, yours included. Happy New Year to you and your family :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful pictures!! looks like you guys had such a fun year!
ReplyDeletethank you! and happy happy happy 2013. i always smile when i read your words and take in your pics. looking forward to another year of smiles.
ReplyDeletei love your one goal for the year, it's something i'm focusing on as well! cheers to the new year!

ReplyDelete"thank your"... oh i love that movie. and thanks for reminding me of how much i love that movie. happy 2013 to you and your sweet family!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog and love your little family! You will always continue to be blessed when you are constantly and consciously counting your blessings - it's amazing how wonderful life is - even though we go through some very dark times:)) AND, I promise you, as your babe gets older, every year is just as incredible as the previous one. Every age I'm always saying " No, THIS is my favorite" (my babies range from 7-14 now). Love it all! Thanks for writing a great blog and allowing me a peek into a reminder of life past with little ones!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness your kid makes the best faces! do you just happen to have the best photo timing ever or is he just always making awesome faces?
ReplyDeleteYour blog (and instagram) make me happy. Thank you for sharing. Happy New Year!

i hope 2013 is everything you hope it shall be.
ReplyDeleteand this is totally unrelated but when i went into labour i was at home and you've got mail came on and it made me think of you and huck and i thought if i have a relationship like natalie has with huck i will be one lucky mummy.
oh and of course i watched the whole film and then went to the hospital because who wouldn't? labour schmabour--nothing gets in the way of tom and meg ;)
Love a good year in review! Huck's many faces crack me up
ReplyDeleteHuck is seriously the cutest little kid ever. And is it weird that I really like your hair in the pic of you in front of that mansiony house? I think you said to please excuse it for lack of washing or something along those lines, but I think it needs to excuses at all.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so precious, every one of them. Please never learn restraint! :)
ReplyDeleteoh, thank you! thank you for sharing 2012 with us. Looking through your photos, I remember the same time of year as I read it the first time. In the summer, I read your blog with the humid, sweet air flowing in the open window next to our computer. In the winter, by the sparkling tree. It's such fun to see the seasons of life through and somehow with you. Wishing you and your sweet family all of the love, peace and fun you can dream of!
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh! huck has changed so much! love the one with the popsicle stick!!!!!! happy 2013 to you guys!

Hi there I've just discovered your blog. I think you're a great writer. Greetings from Melbourne, Australia and happy new year. I've got a 1 & 3 year old so can relate to this time in your life. I think it is wonderful you are so proud of your important job as a mum. I work part time as do most of my friends, but the only (public) conversation seems to be some phony stay at home mum v working (full time) mum. It's all so tiresome. Blogs like yours which rejoice in this important job make me a more confident and proud mum. Best wishes for 2013. p.s. love the clothes.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are so lovely, they feel so warm and happy and you can just feel the love you have for each other! Happy New Year :)
ReplyDeleteNatalie! I've just recently started reading your blog and have just made it through your archives til now! I love how you write....you are so funny, I love all your funny everyday stories. But also your beautiful honesty. Henry is growing up to be such a beautiful child. Happy New Year to you and your boys x
ReplyDeleteAwesome post. Your pictures are all incredible! Happy 2013.

Great post and pictures as usual! Your blog is one of my favorites Natalie, you and your fam are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI've do what I call a "grand goal" each year instead of resolutions. It's very similar to how you do a focus.:) Happy 2013 to you and yours! That kid of yours....totes adoreable.
