and here we have huck, accurately reflecting the way january makes all of us feel, inside.
oh but it's almost over! we've made it to the last weekend! january . . . i don't know you're just a jerk january.
but here is some more good news! tonight, we are finally seeing the new bond movie. date night, what-what! and also this: peanut butter m&ms and welch's strawberry fruit snacks go surprisingly amazing together.
on family style this week:
and on the great beauty experiment:
Oh Huck's face is priceless in that pic! Have a great weekend too... Looking forward to next week's posts x hammeringnotes.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteyour blog makes everyday so much better. babies and nyc? can't go wrong.
ReplyDeleteI clicked over here from a work document, and had the exact same expression on my face as Huck. Made me snort (hopefully not loud enough to hear in the hallway). I'm ready for February, too! Let's get there already.
ReplyDeleteHuck looks how I feel haha. Roll on February! On top of January being lousy at the best of times, England's infrastructure cannot cope with the teeniest bit of snow (and we've had loads this month- hence, disaster!).

That is a great pic of the little one! Ugh, I hate January too. It's just a miserable month. Here's to hoping February is so much better!

To me, January feels like a slow decent into February, which really is one of awfullest. I can't wait until March.
ReplyDeleteWhen you said "it HAS TO BE" it made me think of You've Got Mail when Joe Fox shakes the fence after finding out Kathleen Kelly is attractive and says "SHE HAD TO BE" through clenched teeth.
ReplyDeletegirl. THIS is why we are blogging soulmates!
DeleteMiss Natalie. All of these cold weather posts are helping me with my random decision to move to LA. Because I miss that city SO. But then I read your January hatred posts and I'm all ME TOO I HAVE THAT HATRED TOO and feel much better about being so far from everyone I love. Hold tight - Feb will be here in no time at all.
ReplyDeleteI heard someone here say that same expression "Its colder than a witch's tit in a brass bra." Oh, and I live in Florida. They obviously have lived here their entire life. I know what cold is like, I'm originally from Maine. You have my utmost respect for braving that - sinks into your bones and stays - kind of cold and still taking the kiddo out. I don't know if I could do that anymore!
ReplyDeleteI hate January also; who doesn't hate January? Even my husband who has his birthday in January, hates January. One more week. Good Riddance.
ReplyDeleteI love his face on that picture! And yahoo for date nights!
ReplyDeleteHis face is adorable. My blog
ReplyDeleteThis picture is probably my favorite picture EVER. I die.
ReplyDeleteThat face is priceless. You never have to wonder what he's thinkin', do ya???

ReplyDeleteI just love your blog. You're so right in so many ways. Happy Almost-February!
ReplyDeleteStay warm and take care! February will be a great month for all of us :))
ReplyDeleteIf that movie can't save your January, nothing can! February is the month I hate. I am so over being cold by February.
ReplyDeleteyuck, i had to do the freeze-walk (slash jog) today when my bus detoured due to a red bull crashed ice event (yuck)....only to drop me off a mile from home in below zero weather. stay warm, and more importantly, stay sane from being indoors more!
ReplyDelete"i've never hated a month as much as i've hated this january" - no lie, I have both thought and said that exact sentence about a hundred times this month. really. you literally took the words out of my mouth.

i am with the february haters... january is bad, but february gets really ugly for me. every year. without fail. we all have our bad months, weeks, days... your january only has 6 days left - you can do this!
ReplyDeleteMy Dad always used to say "It's colder than a mother-in-laws heart" - and I'm with you on January, she can kindly leave.
ReplyDeletethose shoes in the babble link are so GREAT!!
ReplyDeletethe first two paragraphs of this post ring out so accurately with me i shook a fist in the air in agreement.
ReplyDeleteI just love Hucks face! Too cute :)

my mom always says "it's colder than a witch's tit in a brass bra." and i am so surprised to hear that other people use that expression because i always thought my mom had made it up!
ReplyDeleteHis face is priceless! Wish we had some cold weather down here...
ReplyDeleteHoly crap that kid is adorable. I bet it's hard to say no to that face! Hope you had a great date night with the hubs. xo
ReplyDeleteCan I ask you a New York City traveling question? We are planning a trip in May and I'm nervous about the bed bug issue. Is it as bad as I hear? Is it just luck of the draw? I've been looking at hotels and I hear different reports...Do you have any advice or places to stay away from?? Thank you!!
ReplyDeletelisaowens99@msn.com
Use the Bed Bug Registry to check out the hotels that you are looking at. I used it when we were looking for a new apartment. Good luck!

This year I decided that the best way to get through January is just to pretend it's a part of February and start decking everything out in pink and red. It looks like most of the blogosphere has joined me! :)
ReplyDeletehe is so cute! i hope you guys had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I loved Skyfall. I mean, what's not to love about Scotland, Daniel Craig, and Judi Dench?? :)
ReplyDeletewww.anna-bird.com
That picture of Huck is all your dad! Super cute!
ReplyDeleteyeah, i'm with you. i think january's a crueler month than april. sorry, eliot. huck's face says it all.
ReplyDeleteYeah, January is rough, but nothing, NOTHING, compares to February to me. It's just the worst of the worst in my opinion. At least there's candy involved, but still. ONTO MARCH!
ReplyDeleteAlso, you need to make a Huck calendar, and his face is definitely for January. (get one of him crying for February. You'll thank me later.)
DeleteSorry you hate January so much. Happy for you that it is almost over! Normally I love January. Yeah...I'm a cold, snowy winter lover...I'm weird like that. Last January sucked. I think it was partly because the weather was really mild and I was all sorts of disgruntled about it. But probably even more it had to do with the fact that a bunch of my friends were getting divorces and it was just overwhelming and horrible (but that's a whole other story.) This January....LOVE! We here in northern Utah are getting a complete smack down by Mother Nature. It's like she turned on the faucets for snow and then forgot and went on vacation or something. And then in-between snow storms we're having freezing cold negative temps, and fog of the pea soup variety, and freezing rain...what? Never seen freezing rain before...that was an adventure! So though most of my fellow Utahans would probably disagree mightly with me, this is the most awesome January EVAH!! :) (Plus, I got to go to San Francisco a couple of weekends ago...and I'm not going to lie, the 64 degree temps and sunshine was a nice little booster...)
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to hate January since it's my birthday month, but girl, I feel ya. It seems as if there is a January hatin' epidemic out there right now. And I must say, I'm happy to see February come as well. I'm not sure why, but I just am.
