A PEEK AT OUR WEEKEND

this weekend found brandon and huck on a quest to find a toy rocket. not A toy rocket but THE toy rocket, the toy rocket of all little boys' dreams. huck is a little into rockets these days, so brandon was all, right. let's do this thing.

this epic rocket quest took the boys all over the city saturday morning while i slept like a rock. after hours with no luck they landed at FAO, where we all met up for some giant pianos and finally a rocket! complete with a tiny astronaut man inside. mission accomplished.

and then we had a late brunch with some friends at norma's.

and now you know THE WHOLE STORY.

and many thanks to fifth avenue for being just a little bit snowy and not at all too crazy full of people on saturday. it made our afternoon outing as a family feel like hitting the jackpot.

beeteedubs hat is french toast covered in rice krispies topped with caramel. and maple syrup on the side. and powdered sugar on top. why not! i like to imagine the chefs at the planing meetings when coming up with this dish... "basically we want to give them three topping options, all of them made of straight sugar."

  4. I NEED that toast in my life - one good thing about winter, I don't feel guilty indulging myself - that majority of the time ;)

  8. New follower saying hi there. Your weekend sounds lovely. I mean, uninterrupted sleep. Come on! Me, I'm pregnant with my fourth bebe and my 6-year-old daughter not only broke her leg and is in a full leg, non-weight bearing cast, but then the poor little munchkin went and acquired the stomach flu. Yeah, wrap your head around that configuration. And your brunch sounds delicious. So happy the rocket has landed at your lovely casa.

  9. Love these pictures, a proper family day of fun!
I'm visiting New York for the first time in April, excited doesn't even come close! if you get a chance I would love to hear what your absolute MUST to do in NY is? Can't beat recommendations from a person who lives in the city your visiting, they always know the best (not necessarily obvious) places. Thanks in advance, and if you're ever in Edinburgh we'll return the favour :)

  23. So, I think I have the exact same (Forever 21) skirt in a saturated peach, which I'm saving for warmer weather (it's just too frothy for these grey days in that hue), and I'm struggling with it because of the tiny mini-skirt liner. I like your look with the black leggings underneath, but wonder whether you'd be comfortable without such a substantial base layer in warmer weather? I am thinking seriously about buying a slip and replacing the mini-skirt liner altogether and welcome your thoughts. -R

  24. Darn it! Why are you the cutest thing, ever? As is your family. I love, love, love reading about you all and sharing a bit in your life (weird?) And, if you could just deposit your entire wardrobe into mine, I would appreciate it:)

  25. I just had the strangest experience. I have three blogs I follow and check in almost every day. So I thought I had clicked on yours, but apparently hit some strange button, that took me to this blog: http://or-so-i-feel.blogspot.com, and I was freaking out, because there were not a lot of pictures, and she was talking about losing a guy, and I started crying, because I still thought it was your blog, and I was so confused, because I just could not see all of that happening in your world, and I thought you had cut your hair and gotten bangs, and was EVER so relieved to discover I was on another blog, not yours. (And yes, this all probably sounds crazy, I realize.) So strange.

  26. A guy at church actually got up to bear his testimony by saying he was still feeling crappy form the stomach flu but that he wanted his kids to see him at church, so here he was. I nearly turned in my church membership then and there. Yes, so lad you're feeling so flush with the spirit that you'll come and share your barf germs with us. THAT IS NOT A MOTHEREFFING TESTIMONY. I fairly flew to the mother's room for a scalding hand wash after church and have been eyeing my children with fear ever since. WTF.

  29. I feel your pain, winter sucks. I've been ready for summer for quite a while, missing it so much. At least it looks like you guys had a happy weekend! FAO was so cool when we were in NYC. I bought way too much candy there.

  30. I get so excited when you post photos of places I recognise! Australia feels like a really long way from NYC, but last October I stood in those same parts of FAO Schwarz with a smile that couldn't be wiped off my face.

We even have matching Snickers photos - see?

  41. I don't recall where I read it but, I remember seeing someone's sly comment comparing you to another blogger, who happens to be your friend. Silly I should even know, me a stranger living in TX ;)

But, nonetheless, I still find it super refreshing that NY city gals can blog, be fab friends, inspire the downtown Dallas city ladies here in Texas(!!!), and at the end of the long days BE POSITIVE through their blogs!!! Yay for positivity, and YAY for all of the fearless women positively living life to the fullest! As my sweet Mother always reminds, "Comparison truly is the thief of joy"... hint hint thoughtless comments.

Your gang is gorgeous and you will always always always cherish having recorded these memories for yourself and your babes!
