// it's been the rainiest this week. dreary mornings when it's wet outside but warm and cozy inside are kind of my favorite. huck is up at 8AM on the nose. his goofy face in mine first thing in the morning is the perfect alarm clock.
// i make the bed first or else my day is a complete disaster. while i'm in there i finally hang our wooden instagram prints that instathis were so kind to send to us. they'd been sitting on our dresser for three weeks because putting holes in walls makes me nervous. they're up and they look snazzy!
// play dough is our jam these days
// time to refill the salt and pepper shakers! straight up GLAMOUR the life of a home maker.
// this is what huck is up to while i clean the kitchen.
// the rain stops so i text my friend nicole. nicole is my go-to lunch friend, and she tells me she needs an escort to a sample sale in the flatiron after we grab some crepes. duh, nicole.
// abc carpet + home is the best. after a few half-off candles (sample sales are THE BONKERSEST), we wheel up to abc, a place that will always remind me of my mother (we've been coming here together to drool on things since i was 11), so nicole can show me this chair. she and tony are thinking of buying it, she says with a straight face. we can't find it at first so we wind through all six floors till we hunt it down. she plays it totally cool, like "oh, it's just this chair, for the living room . . . i want your opinion." and then there it is, this purple spinning plastic . . . thing. i have never laughed so quietly and yet so hard in my entire life. then nicole says, "hey want some hot chocolate?" and i'm like . . . duh nicole.
// by the way, the chocolate donut at balthazar.
// the east side of soho is rather cute. the moma store across from balthazar is rather dangerous (muji!). and the pizza we grab for dinner is rather gross. it's time to head home.
// dude in a prom dress on columbus avenue
*p.s. thank you to Tailor & Stylist for the stripe-y shirt.
i wrote these just now, i think you'll like them:
aaaaaand,
(huck is no longer writing his toddler blog.
he's gotten so big and is talking so much, already his story is no longer mine to tell.)
your day in the life posts are the best. you make the every day simple things so extraordinary. i wish i could see my life like that. i want to know how you do it. write a post on that!
ReplyDeletei love every word of these cheery posts. also: your description of your quiet screeching giggles is the best thing i've read all day. cheers to silliness. happy march, friend!
ReplyDeleteahhhh so lovely! the binder clip trick to hang pictures is just BRILLIANT! you have got me really itching for spring.

how badly do I want one of those chocolate donuts? so badly.
ReplyDeleteI had a dream last night that you were announcing a new pregnancy on your blog today. [hopefully telling you this isn't rubbing salt in the wound or anything] I have my fingers crossed so tightly that things work out for you in the baby department; I think we need more little ones like Huck in the world. more little ones for you to raise oh-so-right and love oh-so-much.
ReplyDeleteI spy with my little eye samplers from Alicia Paulson! Love. I think I prefer the chaotic grouping to the line of prints next to the flag, but hard to tell with the cropped photos. If the biggest decision we struggle over is what to do with art, we're doing okay. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou capture the beauty in your life so well. And those cupcake shops!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI totally have to make my bed first thing in the morning or else the rest of my day is completely unproductive and a disaster.
ReplyDeleteI am also a bed-maker and if you're not up when I am you get made into the bed!
ReplyDeleteI loooooorve your F21 Babble posts, but today's freaked me out a bit. I think maybe you hacked into my computer and stole my entire F21 shopping cart! Great minds?
I love the interior design of your house! Oh and that swinging chair is amazing, I sat on one at Heatherwick's exhibition at the V&A, brilliantxx
ReplyDeleteI look at your pictures and get lost in what it must be like to live in New York. Somehow my photos of Idaho might not be as captivating.
ReplyDeleteLove everyday life photos... I do my bed first thing inthe morning too! I like the feeling of acomplishment soearly in the morning hehehe
ReplyDeleteHave a nice we
Is Huck's bedroom a closet? My oldest sister totally slept in the closet when my parents lived in Chicago years ago...
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun day!! Friends who like sample sales and hot chocolate with donuts are the best kinds of friends.
ReplyDeletethat flatiron pic is awwwwwesome.
ReplyDeleteAh, so girls jeans are the secret to stylish little dudes! (Just looked through the links on babble) My guy is 9 months old and once he is walking full-time I know which department I'll be heading to!
ReplyDeleteYour photos always make me want to visit NYC! What a dream.

And now I am resolved to paint my nails for the weekend. I delved into my drawer and found four virtually identical shades of coral/orange and four of green/aqua/blue colours. The choice is almost too much! Happy Weekend, Nat!
ReplyDeleteYour city pictures always make me want to move -Hanna
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of that very tall building. Happy Friday to you!
ReplyDeletethe flat iron is stunning. absolutely love your 'day in the life' posts!! xo

OK, first of all.. that donut looks absolutely delicious. Second of all, so glad you took a picture of the dude in a prom dress, that's just made my morning. He has a Carrie Bradshaw vibe going on with that outfit choice ;) x
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the Flatiron is so good. I really like how grainy and moody it is.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I now want a pink Vespa.
The chocolate doughnut looks delicious! That's all I crave now!
ReplyDeleteI love these posts. And that purple chair is crazy awesome. But my favorite part has to be you sending Huck off to bed with a pat on the bum. It makes me smile, I cant resist giving my little guys a pat on the bum. ALSO your picture collage on your wall, I love.
ReplyDeleteI like them next to the flag ;)
ReplyDeleteThe best. I have been complaining about constant rain in my usually sunny sunshine filled part of the world. This inspired me to just get out there, enjoy the rain. Heck, I might even take some photos.
ReplyDeleteI would've died on the purple chair. Probably.
Your pictures are great.
ReplyDeleteI love your gallery wall. :)

Hi!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog for awhile, but I think that this is my first time commenting. I just want to say that your blog is such a joy to read, and it inspires me to seek out and appreciate the beautiful things in life, no matter how dreary things may be (like Wintertime in the desert -- where I'm currently at! Haha). As always, little one is such a cutie, seriously, and he seems like a boy with lots of personality!
By the way, I don't think I'll ever be brave enough to try out that purple chair. Lol. :-P
I really love your gallery wall. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteOMG... my mom had those exact same salt and pepper shakers and I am talking like 100 years ago!!!
DeleteThat dude in the prom dress is the greatest thing I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteI love the spinny chair, the bitten donut, and the hairy pink fairy prince, but my favorite is the triangle building. I have almost the same photo of that building from years ago when I was there. Would you tell me the name of that wonderful triangle building?
