happy independence day!
this year we did the fourth from our friends' 22nd floor apartment overlooking the hudson. great people, great views, and air conditioned to boot. we're so lucky for our freedoms in this country, for our very good friends, and for mother effing corn on the cob.
△△△ not to stir up controversy or whatever but i'm proud to be an american these days. i'm also proud to be an optimistic independent thinker, and proud to hope for the things that i hope for.
△△△ the downside of an apartment building with prime firework views is that a million people try to exit all at once when the show's finished. we waited for an elevator a real long time before deciding to leave our stroller behind and take the stairs. huck was such a trooper all day but passed out cold on the around the 10th floor.
hope your fourth was safe and lovely.
We love your shirt!!!
ReplyDeleteWe had our first ever 4th of July party and feel vaguely patriotic now:-)

Greetings from Europe,
Birdy and Bambi
you might be my very cutest friend. (don't tell the rest of them, though.) happy 4th!
ReplyDeletethat picture of huck and the orange bowl is adorable and totally magazine worthy. i'd buy anything an ad was selling if that was the picture.
ReplyDeleteThose fireworks look incredible! Perfect way to view them -- a few years ago I waited for hours by the River Thames for the NYE fireworks over the London Eye and it was terrible trying to get home by tube!
ReplyDeleteI got a nice long chuckle over your instagram post with the rainbow flags. It's like everyone can't resist!
ReplyDeletethat's my kind of fourth! Overlooking the hudson? awesome!! glad y'all had a wonderful holiday!
ReplyDeleteSo much love for Huck's sweet face over that bowl of sweets. Seriously seriously cute :)

You are so pretty Natalie, sooo pretty. I love your t-shirt and would love to wear it but I think it would be a bit too pretendy of me seeing as I'm lacking any American-ness. Huck looks like the cutest little boy over the sweetie bowl - best boy!

I just had to tell you that I love that last picture of Huck and his dad. A hot summer evening ending just the way it should with a sleeping babe. Framer for sure!
ReplyDeleteThis is glorious. And as far as the not-wanting-to-stir-up-controversy, don't sit on the sidelines trying to please everyone. You're you and this is your space, write what you like! We'll still love and accept you.
ReplyDeleteYour shirt is so cute. Perfect for the 4th Hanna Marie
ReplyDeleteI love that you have high hopes for change in your religion but you're still able to keep your faith. It's the only way change can occur. You rock lady!
ReplyDeleteI bet that was an AMAZING view! So fun!

ReplyDeleteI love that you're an independent thinker. It's one of the reasons why I read your blog :). Too few people remember that you can both be religious and have progressive ideas.
