oh, new york in the summer!
last week we had the privilege of surviving a massive heat wave. insane humidity, temps into the hundreds, all the good stuff. it was a good time! you know, you really get to know yourself in times like these. i love going home at the end of the day feeling like i really DID IT, so heat waves are pretty satisfying for me. friday was possibly the worst of it, but we wanted some fun and kind of you reach this point where you're like, look. you know? life has to go on.
i love living in this city because we are completely surrounded at all times by ridiculously impressive people. my friend erin morley for example. she is a singer for the metropolitan opera and girlfriend can wail. she was performing on friday night with the met for the summer stage, a free series of concerts going on all over the city during the summer. she was performing friday night in brooklyn, so off we went to support her. we left a little early so we could bum around before the concert started. we stopped by the pop up pool and rekindled our love affair with some of the best bagels in brooklyn (in my opinion), but more on that later.)
and bonus points for good people! latonya and river met us at the park and the two of us braved some opera with toddlers that night like champs! i'm really proud of us, you know. we did one hell of a good job keeping our babies quiet and respectful to the other patrons. (bubble wands. bubble wands will save you.)
a couple of photos because duh...
erin in the black dress. i was so proud of her!
this adorable girl danced all through the crowd all night long, she was a huge highlight of the night.
bubble. wands.
happy monday!
heat waves do a number on me too. they really bring out everything ;) when my hair has reached it's all time foofy frizziness and I'm sweating standing still, there's no telling how I'll react to external stimuli. if I can get through a heat wave like that and maintain composure, I'm winning ;) sounds like you rocked this last one. go girl.
