brandon and i have been watching felicity episodes together in the evenings. he's never seen felicity before and it is delightful for me to watch him watch it, especially knowing how fully a BEN my husband is.
"ben's really the tragic hero of this show," brandon said to me the other night, which is how i know my husband also thinks he's a ben, too.
"ben's really the tragic hero of this show," brandon said to me the other night, which is how i know my husband also thinks he's a ben, too.
i am such a felicity it actually causes me physical pain to watch the first season, but that is beside the point.
i bumped into my friend elise on my way home from "making dinner" at chipotle. she had her double stroller with her, it was completely empty. "getting groceries?" i asked. because that is one of the weird things you start to do here, you push your empty stroller places so you don't have to carry things.
and speaking of whatever else, the other day in a fit of writer's block i sink-jobbed the post-baby regrowth mullet that i was sporting. just me, the bathroom mirror, a pair of scissors, and my hairstylist's future fury. it only took two very sad snips. that's it! snip snip. and then i was like, "that's it?" because this decision had become SUCH AN EPISODE FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED. it's been a few days now, i've apologized profusely to my hairstylist, and i still don't regret it. which never happens.
some other things i did this week while "writing my book"
take a careful inventory of my t-shirt situation.
perform a hem job on three pairs of pants.
go on a million playground breaks.
accidentally stop drinking caffeinated sodas. (who am i?)
get wicked headaches for three days straight.
so glad you wrote. missed you!

I'm so happy you updated your blog! I can't wait for the book though -Hanna Marie
ReplyDeleteyou're just NOT a first season felicity. rewatching this 15 (FIFTEEN!) years later is such a treat and i have so much commentary on all of the southwestern patterened textiles in both noel and ben's cribs. so thanks again for the rewatch-inspiration but you're way too together to be a FSF. standing firmly behind that.
ReplyDeleteEating an elephant. Good analogy. I like it. Also, I always cut my hair! :) It really is surprisingly easy. And maybe has something to do with "control issues," who knows.

I got mad at Victoria Jackson for putting up a stupid post about Mormons. So I wrote a snarky blog about it. I would love for you to read it.....bleachervision.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteKind of tacky to use someone else's blog comment section to pimp your own blog post, don't you think?
DeleteWell i've given up the soda - all of it but especially the caffeinated diet variety (of which are my most favourite!). It happened after being strongly implored by my fertility naturopath - told me all these amazing stories of her clients who stop drinking DC and next month all pregnant. It's been 3 weeks - not pregnant yet so i'm still a bit skeptical!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the book!! One bit at a time eh?!
How can this kid be sooo cute!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat kid kills me ! Cutest pictures. Gasped when I saw this post, I was already missing you. Keep on trucking ! You can write this book. Also glad your home haircut turned out well, as mine often don't. xoxo

Frick felicity is seriously the best show ever. Also favorite hair cut ever. So much love for this post.
ReplyDeletei love you, and i love your book already :)
ReplyDeleteSuch great pictures...good luck with the book.
ReplyDeletethankful for this post! i was already having withdrawals at the mere mention of your blogging absence. also, i am 22 years old and have winnie the pooh checks with a different character on each one...i'm nervous for the day when i stop getting excited about who will grace my next check. good luck writing and such!
ReplyDeleteI like to think I would be above freaking out over seeing a celebrity in person, but forget it if I ever saw Keri Russell. Felicity is the greatest! I have the series on DVD and always pull it out when I have a baby and I rewatch the whole thing in those first few months when baby gets me up all night. I'm surprised that Brandon is a Ben! I was totally for Noel and Felicity when I first watched but time and many subsequent watchings makes me love Ben more every time. Especially second season Ben. Good luck with the book! Can't wait to read it.
ReplyDelete'Like eating an elephant' aha your friend has the best similes :')
ReplyDeleteOh my lands! Love me a solid episode of "Felicity." You're the coolest. Happy to have stumbled upon your blog!
ReplyDeleteyou've been missed in my daily feed.

I needed this post. Thank you for your honesty, always. I am writing a book, too, and have been beating myself up for not being really determined this week; taking too many breaks, surfing the internet for too long, etc. But this made me feel all better. We're human after all, right? All of us.
ReplyDeleteHahaha I loved this post! You sound like me while trying to write my dissertation earlier this year. A dissertation is one thing but a book.. I have so much respect for you! Man.. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGood luck in your cave of writing! So glad you took the time to keep us updated :)!!

I have to tell you that I'm cracking up at the stroller/ grocery carts. As someone who lives in the burbs, I always wondered how you guys carried your groceries around. Question answered!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! Melissa
If I had a basket like that, my Finn would be all over it.
ReplyDeleteFelicity has definitely taught us to be wary of impulsive haircuts. But I doubt the chic #clavicut will cause your ratings drop as much as her infamous #pixieofseason2...haha. There are fewer things finer in life than curling up with some tea and Felicity on Netflix.
ReplyDeleteHaha welcome back to blogging! I really thought you weren't gg to blog. Anyways looking forward to photos of your new haircut and it's always good to have a change! And your son is adorable, such cute photos of him. :))
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, STOP IT. You have the cutest baby in the history of babies.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say that the whole going back in time portion of Felicity was an afterthought because the network added a few more episodes after cancelling it. So, it was their way of adding more shows post original finale (Ben going to CA to attend school with Felicity) aka, where I like to imagine it ended.
ReplyDeleteWere the headaches from stopping drinking the caffeine cokes? I'm sure I will get headaches if I try and stop.
ReplyDeleteI can wait to read the book!
So I really love this post. It reminds me of something I would write or stream of thought while I was studying for the bar. But maybe yours is a little less stressed out than I would have been. I'm so excited for your book. I mean, what a giant, huge, amazing accomplishment. I cannot wait.
ReplyDeleteSo cute.

ReplyDeleteI am freaking out, so excited for your book!
ReplyDeleteOh! That video of Huck on IG...so adorable, you make the cutest kids!
