sooooo basically being the mom of henry holbrook comes with a whole lot of perks, is what this post is about.
yesterday was cronut hole concrete day over at the shake shack, a big old collaboration with dominique ansel with 100% of the proceeds going to charity. one of huck's friends at the shake shack sent over a VIP invitation to skip the line and get one of the very first concretes of the morning, which, hey! twist our arms!
now, myself having never tried the cronut (don't nothing get me out of bed before 5AM unless it involves saving a family member's life), i was pretty jazzed to try it. on the cab ride downtown when i asked huck if he was excited to try a donut ice cream, he furrowed his brow and said, "no, not ice cream. just donuts. yeahh, donuts."
the cronut concrete, if you're wondering: daaaaang. i will never, never get over that butter caramel custard so long as i live.
the line was pretty intense. camera crews everywhere, lots of cheering, and i got to be at the front of the line to watch the first 100 on line get their free tee shirts. it was pretty fun to be a part of so much excitement for such a great cause.
hey shake shack, thanks for having us! we, like, really love you. it's pretty serious.
no this post was not sponsored by shake shack, i know you were going to ask!
(maybe this post was sponsored by your mom!) (yeah that's real mature, natalie.)
That Henry is just the cutest babe!

I left too soon and missed this!!! Gives me something to look forward too for my next trip!!!! YUM!
ReplyDeleteYour last line made me giggle...
ReplyDeleteToo funny.
Thank goodness this post isn't sponsored, I mean otherwise I couldn't enjoy it and the whole post would suddenly be awful! ;) This post is full of greatness! I can't wait to try shake shack for the first time when we visit NYC in December! Goodbye Oregon, hello New York!
ReplyDeletethat sponsored joke made me laugh. lol. you should consider writing children's books. or books for adults with your humor. it would be awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteooo so jealous! sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteLove that hat on HH.
First of all, your outfit is amaze. Second of all, I'm insanely jealous that you got a cronut custard. I know I will never get a cronut because I hate getting up early as much as you and Huck! And Huck is adorable, btw.
ReplyDeleteso you were there too!!!!!...and I notice that you have had a tie and dye done...love it ♥

cute! and not-waiting-in-line is basically the only way i'll do anything.
ReplyDeleteLooks so good! Very jealous. -Hanna Lei
ReplyDeletecrinkle cut friiiiiiiiieeeees!
ReplyDeleteAlmost more so than Henry himself, my favorite thing was your parting lines. Too funny!
ReplyDeletei am actually excited to write this comment as a fellow mom (cause it's one that i'd totally want to hear)... huck totally looks like a baby here. like not a grown up big kid. (glimpses of them still being babies when toddlers overjoy me)
ReplyDeleteThat picture of Huck with the hotdog from your Instagram is THE cutest. I don't think I've ever been that excited about a hot dog.
ReplyDeleteSo sassy! I like this side of Natalie!
ReplyDeleteI cried when I read the Monty post and squealed when I saw the recent photos and antics of your boy. Your blog is always a welcome joy, thanks for sharing your life with us.
ReplyDeleteI will never get that Huck shake shack face out of my head, and if you see the employee newsletter you gotta share!
ReplyDeleteNatalie, you are the bee's knees. Haters gonna hate. (I'm as super-articulate as you are mature ;))
ReplyDeleteIron tummies! I totally can't eat that stuff in the morning even though it looks like many manners of amazing :)! I might be able to stomach it if I got a special invite though. Perhaps after some scrambled eggs? Actually, that would probably be gross. And I prefer when things are sponsored by ones butt ;). ha ha ;).
ReplyDeleteHahaha! No wonder they are big fans of Henry Holbrook at the Shake Shack, that picture is just priceless. What a fun day for you guys! And, I'm obsessed with Caroline's Brvtvs jewellery line, her ear cuffs are lovely.
ReplyDeletethat picture of him doing the peace sign in his little H beanie is pretty much just really awesome. love it.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! What a fun morning! And a free tee shirt?! YES. PLEASE.

HA, you're the best! this whole cronut hole concrete thing sounds amaaaazing. i love donuts. your outfit is rad. xo
ReplyDeleteShake shack is coming to AZ! The only reason I know or care about SS is because of you, Natalie. Can't wait to try it!
ReplyDeleteso cute and looks like so much fun! "your mom" jokes also happen to be my favorite as is your blog and writing. I agree with the above comment that you should write children's books...it would be epic!
ReplyDeletei wish i had friends at shake shake too. i am totally with huck, i would have prefered just the cronut holes too.
ReplyDeletethat henry picture is just levels of epic, but then again, so is your HAIR. it looks so good!

ReplyDeleteThis. THIS is why I like you!
Your "mom" sentence literally made me laugh out loud... and I needed that today :)
ReplyDelete(p.s. i mistakenly commented as MFA above... that's why there's a "removal")
hilarious! I wish I had a pom pom hat just like Huck's for me!!!
ReplyDeleteAhh, sleepy Huck is adorable. Love the peace sign. This post was sponsored by your awesomeness. poodlewrites.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHuck and that hat! i die! No wonder everyone at shake shack adores him!
ReplyDeleteI love Huck's hat! Too cute, and those cronut hols look so good!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen that instagram of Huck before, they should have done a national campaign with that picture! Now I want to go to there.

Love it!
Love your blog too Natalie. Who cares about those haters! ;)
LOL yup, that last line is a keeper, natalie!
ReplyDeletei've never been fortunate enough to partake of the shack, but seriously is on my list when i'm in a neighborhood that has one!
also - adorable huck pics!
That last part was funny.
ReplyDeleteI also really am glad you don't get up early just for a weird donut. ;) The sundae looks pretty good, though. Being about a million miles south of you, I might just have to make my own Krispy Creme version. ;)

Um, well it actually was sponsored by Shake Shack because you got your items for free. Or maybe you didn't, it's unclear. I think you have a good blog and are a great writer but not everyone who posts a negative comment is a hater. All bloggers are required by the FCC to disclose free items at the beginning of your post. Do I think that is weird and unfair, yes. But what is even more unfair is holding yourself apart from every other blogger doing it.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting sick of the sponsorship whining and this isn't even my blog. Move on people.
ReplyDeleteHuck's outfit wins everything.
ReplyDeleteLove this post Natalie! Jealous of your food adventures in NYC:)
