i've always had this bias against navy blue. since i'm in blue denim just about every day of the week i worry about possibly looking like a blueberry. but then i got this idea in my head one random day of a blue on blue ensemble--the kind of thing where where you'd look like a blueberry but on purpose--and then a few weeks later i found this navy blue sweater on sale at zara and it seemed like the universe was prodding me along. i threw this one together for a warm saturday morning winter brunch outing last month with a friend, figuring if one were going to look like a blueberry, brunch is probably the safest place to do it.
i am having a love affair with sweaters this winter. simple and a little bit oversized, paired with boots. socks must peek out.
p.s. huck

ReplyDeleteDope in the UK means Marijuana! Guessing it doesn't have the same connotations in the States...
ReplyDeleteoh, it does. but it also means 'cool' :)
DeleteI think baby boomers here know it as marijuana, but like Julie said, we use it as cool.
DeleteI love the outfits, but I did wonder what your parents thought of his shirt? My mother would die. hehehe
love, love, love your look! head to toe, it is a great, practical yet stylish, and fitting look. but i am not a fan of the t-shirt you have on sweet huck....i guess using your child as a canvas to show how "ironic" you can be isn't a terrible thing, it's just something i would ever do.

Deletei guess i haven't put much thought into the negative connotations of "dope," but i will from now on! i suppose every slang word has a less tasteful connotation than what you might use it for. in my house "that's dope" is just another way of saying "that's cool!" i'd never heard it used as a drug term. in this case, huck is only meant to be a canvas of support for some dear friends of ours. :)
ReplyDeletep.s. thank you, also! :)
DeleteLove that look! So simple and easy but still classic looking. Thumbs up.
ReplyDelete@rmforde dope used to be a term for marijuana (I have heard my dad use the term before), but the much more common meaning these days is "cool", so it's more saying what a cool little dude her son is!
ReplyDeleteI love this bag!! I entered via Twitter! Also love your outfit! Wish those booties were still available on shoemint! I'd be all over them!
ReplyDeleteThis is my kind of outfit: jeans and a sweater, and jazz it up with polka dot socks!! And I wish Huck's suspenders were available in my size.... I also love the bag, hence I entered :)

Those shoemint boots are sold out and they seem impossible to find anywhere else, but I am most certain I need to have them. Help Natalie! Use your shopping skills for a poor ol gal. :) Where else can we find them??
ReplyDeleteI have that exact same Zara jumper but I found mine has bobbled really badly - has yours done the same since you washed it? I really love it and would love to know if yours has bobbled also or if not how you have avoided it?
