ohhhh, huck and his grandpa lovin. it has been such a treat for me to watch huck and the O.G. huck spend so much time together. they're pretty much inseparable at this point. and i might be biased but i want to say it for the record, i really do have the greatest dad. EVER. we are two lucky ducks to get to call him ours.
huck got this amazing toy bow and arrow set for christmas, handmade by some genius lady in southern oregon, and one morning last week before huck had even changed out of his jams, my dad popped down from his home office upstairs in between phone calls to ask huck if he wanted to go squirrel huntin'. huck smiled so big i thought his cheeks were going to shoot straight off his face. of course his "santa christmas hat" had to go too, because it is still christmas where huck lives and also it improves his aim. the line of trees along the back fence has since been renamed "squirrel forest," and the boys have silently prowled back there just about every day since, off to catch them some squirrel guts. i got these and about five million other really killer shots of their first expedition in the maybe three minutes i was out there without a sweater before i froze my butt off.
p.s. right now huck is downstairs with his grandma jumie making homemade play dough out of peanut butter and powdered sugar and they are singing "angels we have heard on high" together. so what i am saying is, eat your heart out, other grandkids.
kills me dead, that kid.
Oh gosh.
ReplyDeleteSo adorable that it made my overly emotional pregnant self cry. Can't wait for my little boy to get here.

He looks like a little Robin Hood!
ReplyDeletehow wonderful for huck that he has that one-on-one before the rest of the grand kids follow - they'll have an amazing relationship with their grandparents too, i'm sure (as both you mom & dad sound amazing) but, there's a special bond between grandparents and the first grandchild in particular, no?
